Iva Nell Miller

 

 

Iva Nell Miller, 74, of Center, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020, in Center.


Graveside service will be held at Noon, Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center with Bro. Charles Williams and Bro. Chuck Horton officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Watson & Sons Funeral Home, beginning at 10:00 a.m.


Born August 8, 1945, in San Augustine, she was the daughter of the late, America Meck Rash and Lillie Mae Taylor Rash.  She earned her Master’s Degree in Education and went on to teach at Center ISD for 35+ years.  Her hobbies were tending to the cows and camping.  Mrs. Miller was a life-long member of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church.


She is survived by her sons, Michael Miller and wife Gayla of Shelbyville, Mark Miller and wife Kallie of Lakeport, Matthew Miller and wife Sheri of Center, Mickey Miller and wife Chalee of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Cody Miller and wife Amanda of Center, Alyssa Youngblood and husband Koby of Shelbyville, Mark Miller and wife Sheri of Shelbyville, Morgan Walker and husband Josh of Deadwood, Louisiana, Derek Miller and wife Sally of Midland, Jared Miller of Nacogdoches, Josh Miller of Nacogdoches, Garrett Hoover of Dubois, Pennsylvania, Matthew Miller of Nacogdoches, Lauren Parks and husband Chase of Diana, Ty Miller of Nacogdoches, and Gracie Miller of Nacogdoches, Paige Van Meter, and Tatum Van Meter; brother and sisters, Kenneth Rash and wife Martha of Center, Wanda Price and husband Kenneth of San Augustine, Betty Rhame and husband Jimmy of Center, and Martha Dennis of Huntington; sister-in-law, LaNell Rash; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family; and a host of friends.

Cathie Ann Raymond, 65, of Timpson, Texas passed away on March 25, 2020 in Timpson, Texas.  Born November 16, 1954, in Center, Texas. Cathie is the daughter of the late Boyce Ray Raymond and Betty Lou (Parker) Raymond. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Geana Sue Cheshire of Center, Texas; brother, Elzie Ray Ramond and wife Margaret of Center, Texas; sister, Glenda Smith of Center, Texas; grandchildren, Paighton Cheshire, Brooklynn  Cheshire, Macy Cheshire, Megan Jackson, Tyler Jackson; great grandchildren, Hunter Derr, Pierson Collier, Dallas Collier, Asher Jackson, McKenzie Smith, Kylie Smith, Caleb Smith; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Jasmin Aglead Cavazos, 20, of Center, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Center, Texas.  Born January 25, 2000 in Nacogodches, Texas.  Jasmin is the daughter of Eloy Cavazos and Yolanda Guzman.  A memorial service will be on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 10AM at St. Therese Catholic Church, Center, Texas.

 

Jasmin graduated from Center High School.  She worked at Port A Cool in Center.  She was a fun, generous person. Jasmin was willing to help anyone.  She found great joy in being there for those in need.  Jasmin was a very strong person, and persevered through many trials, always keeping her head up and a smile on her face. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and living life to its fullest. Jasmin was a very independent person.  She never gave up, and was always happy.  Jasmine will be remembered in our hearts always and forever.

Jordan Dean Shisler, 28, of Center, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Center, Texas.  Born September 11, 1991, in Nacogodches, Texas.  Jordan is the son of Paula SanAugustine.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 1PM at Old Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Son Windham officiating.

 

Jordan was raised in Center, Texas.  He attended Center High School. He immediately went to work after high school. He was a hard working man.  Jordan loved driving a truck. He enjoyed traveling.  Jordan was an avid outdoorsman. Whether he was fishing, hunting, swimming at the lake, or visiting with family and friends, he was just happy to be outside. He had a precious jewel, his son, Chase Shisler, whom he loved dearly.  Jordan brought a smile to your face when he was around.  

He is survived by his mother, Paula SanAugustine; grandparents, Linda Shisler and Paulette Mires; great grandmother, Helen Landers; brother, Caleb Shisler; sister, Angelica Shisler and Jose Parades; uncles, Jason Shisler and wife Kay, Ronnie Mires, Tony Killen, Steven Killen and wife Rebecca; aunts, Phyllis Stegen and husband Bob, Cheryl New; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Ivy Paul Munn

 

 

Ivy Paul Munn, 86, of Tenaha, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
A private graveside service has been scheduled and a public memorial service will be held at a later date.


Born July 22, 1933, in Waterloo, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Ivy Paul Munn Sr. and Inez Marie Foster Munn. Mr. Munn served in the United States Air Force and later went on to work as a welder in the oilfield.  An avid outdoorsman, his hobbies included hunting and fishing.  He was a member of Old Home Baptist Church.


Survivors include his children, Eddie Chisenhall and wife Sue of Center, Louise Johnson and husband David of Lufkin, and Alvin Chisenhall of Lufkin; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Munn and wife Diane of Pasadena; sister, Paulette Jensen of Georgetown; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a host of friends.


He is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Lee Munn; and parents, Ivy Paul Munn Sr. and Inez Marie Foster Munn.

Sherry G. Dean, 75, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020, in Nacogdoches.

Born August 28, 1944, in Sudan, she was the daughter of the late James Gordon Graves and Ruth Lee Graves.  She worked as a bookkeeper for ACE Hardware for over twenty years.  Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening, cooking, caring for her pets, and spending time with her grandson.  Mrs. Dean was a faithful member of New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.


She is survived by her children, Clint Tanner of Center and Debbie Gilchrist and husband Scott of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Aaron Gilchrist of Shelbyville and Brian Gilchrist and wife Meredith of Richardson; great grandchildren, Hadley Gilchrist and Hutton Gilchrist both of Richardson; brother and sisters, David Graves and wife Tina of Logansport, Louisiana, Joyce Singleton and husband George of Tyler, and Jo Lynn Rigdon and husband Terry of Greenwood, Louisiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Maxine (Stockwell) Bryce Hall, 70, of Timpson, Texas passed away on March 19, 2020 in Houston, Texas.  Born September 5, 1949 in Houston, Texas, to the late Bennie Stockwell and May Harris.  Funeral  service will be held at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas, on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 1PM with Bro. William Dee Daniel officiating.  Interment will follow at County Line Cemetery, FM1971S, Timpson, Texas.

Maxine grew up in Houston, Texas. She attended Smiley High School.  She married Pallie Bryce at a young age and the two raised three boys.  They made their home in Shelby County.  They spent many wonderful years together before she lost Pallie due to a tragic accident.  Later in life she married, James Hall, and they too spent many good years together before his passing in 2012.  Maxine enjoyed the outdoors.  She loved to travel, especially taking trips to the beach.  She found great joy spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Family time was most precious to her.  She also loved to sew.

Barbara Ann (Young) Bogue

 

 

Barbara Ann (Young) Bogue, 85, of Timpson, Texas passed away on March 16, 2020 in Timpson, Texas.  Born May 30, 1934, Gladewater, Texas, to the late Talmadge Jefferson Young and Eva Mae (Nichols) Young.  Graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, Texas, on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 2PM with Bro. William Dee Daniel officiating.  

 

Barbara graduated Timpson High School.  She met the love of her life, James Lowell Bogue, during her high school years.  The two were married December 22, 1951, at a young age of 17.  She and James spent over 66 remarkable years together before his passing in 2017.  She received her master’s degreee from Stephen F. Austin State University and became a teacher.  She taught first grade at Timpson Independent School District for many years before retiring.  Barbara loved her family and enjoyed every opportunity to get to spend with them.  She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Timpson.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Becky Talk and husband Bill of Lufkin, Texas, Diane Marshall and husband Ray of Timpson, Texas; son, Donald Bogue and wife Lauralee of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Marshall, Nathan Marshall, Melissa Talk Harrington and husband Mike, Evan Talk and wife Joanna, Lauren Talk, Jessica Bogue Leavins and husband Chris, Angela Bogue and Dave Jackson, James Bogue; 13 great grandchildren, Abilene Marshall, Boaz Marshall, Sabine Marshall, Fisher Marshall, Abigail Marshall, Aubrey Harrington, Natalie Harrington, Ryland Leavins, Wyatt Leavins, Haven Leavins, Cateleigh Leavins, Presley Aguilar, Ellie Jackson; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Ceci Wilson

 

 

Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Ceci Wilson, of Joaquin, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020, in Garrison.
Funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Roy Jackson “Dutch” Price III officiating.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mrs. Wilson was born February 18, 1946, in Joliet, Illinois, to Henry E. Ceci and Lillian Dernulc Ceci.


She is survived by her husband, Jay Sr., whom she met on a blind date in 1966 and had a long distance courtship while both attended colleges 1000 miles apart.  The two married February 15, 1969 and they just celebrated their 51st anniversary.


A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Physical Medicine, she was a registered physical therapist for over 40 years.  She especially enjoyed working with pediatric and geriatric patients.  She entered the profession not for the money, but for the satisfaction of helping her patients.  Her gift to her patients, in addition to physical therapy, was her compassion.  She believed that talking and listening to her patients and their families was an equally important part of their therapy.


She is survived by her children, Jay M. Wilson Jr. and his wife Lisa, Melissa Price and her husband Timmy; grandchildren, Kelli Coleman, Ceci Beaumont and her husband Hunter, Jesse Wilson, Melayni Wilson, and Brady Price; great grandchildren, Jaxton Beaumont and Evelynn Beaumont.
Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life.  She made it to a point to be at every activity of theirs, regardless of the distance she had to travel.  She was an animal lover…never meeting one she didn’t want to adopt. 


Pallbearers will be Jesse Wilson, Brady Price, Hunter Beaumont, Jaxton Beaumont, John Paul Sledge, Glenn Ebby, and Robert Nugent.

Mr. Almaraz was born January 13, 1960, in Alice, to Domingo Alejo Almaraz Jr. and Maria Carbajal Almaraz.  He worked in the oilfield for many years.  He was an avid outdoorsman with hobbies including saltwater fishing, camping, and hunting.  Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family.


He is survived by his wife, Penny Almaraz of Center; children, Joshua Eli Almaraz of Center, Domingo Almaraz of Center, Debra Espinoza and husband Ricardo of Center, Joseph Almaraz of Center, and Danielle Kendrick and husband Terry of Joaquin; step sons, Michael Johnson of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Mitchell Johnson of Center; grandchildren, Briana Gonzalez, Janelle Lugo, Jace Espinoza, Jaxen Espinoza, Liam Espinoza, Marcus Almaraz, Isabella Almaraz, Cooper Taylor; mother, Maria Guadalupe Carbajal; brothers and sister, David Angel Almaraz and wife Nora, Dora Almaraz, and Javier Almaraz and wife Delia Lopez; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Rosie Chavez; father, Domingo Alejo Almaraz Jr.; grandparents, Alejo and Guadalupe Almaraz, and Pedro and Bárbara Carbajal.

W.J. Goings, 86, of Center, Texas passed away on March 12, 2020 in Longview. He was born on March 30, 1933 in Shelby County to Ennis Goings and Mozell Windham Goings. Mr. Goings Served in the United States Army and was a member of the Shelbyville Sam Houston Masonic Lodge 32. A good day fishing was always enjoyed but not as much as the time he was able to spend with his grand and great grandchildren. Mr. Goings was always known for his checking on and visiting with family and friends and was known to tell a good story that would make everyone’s day better.

Cecil Tyler, 73, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020 in Lufkin, Texas. He was born on August 23, 1946 in Shelby County to Vertice Tyler and Dorothy Golden Tyler. Mr. Jenkins was born and raised in the small town of Center, Tx.  He was known by many family and friends as Tom Cat, Tom, Pied Piper, Earl, and Jenkins.  Thomas was a great man, a great spouse, great father, great-grandfather (PaPa), brother, uncle, and a very good friend.  If you knew Mr. Jenkins you know he liked fast cars, the blues, and loved his family.

Charles Wayne Askins, 96, of Timpson, Texas passed away on March 7, 2020 in Garrison, Texas. Born November 22, 1923, in Timpson, Texas, to the late Henry “Pete” Dewey Askins and Alice Juanita (Franks) Askins.  Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 2:00PM at Good Hope Baptist Church, FM 2667, Timpson, Texas, with Bro. Ronnie Sowell officiating.  Interment will follow at Blair Cemetery, Timpson, Texas.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas.

 

Charles was born and raised in Shelby County.  He attended Blair School. After graduation he served his great country during WWII in the United States Army.  He returned to Timpson and married the love of his life, Doris Crump, on February 24, 1945.  They welcomed two sons, Billy and Jerry. Sadly, Jerry passed away from cystic fibrosis at the young age of 3.  Charles and Doris spent over 56 years together before her passing in 2001.  Charles became a small cattle rancher at the age of only 6 years old.  It was from that moment he became more and more involved in cattle ranching and farming.  Charles could be found at the Center Livestock Auction every Wednesday at high noon. This was a weekly event he would not miss.  Sunday afternoon you could find Charles in his favorite chair watching football games, especially when the Cowboy’s were playing.  He also found great joy in riding the mule atv with his favorite dog, Bullet.  Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He always made sure his family was taken care of.  Charles was that person if you had met him, he left you with a smile.  He was a dear friend to many in Shelby County and will be missed.  He loved the Lord and was a founding member of Good Hope Baptist Church.  

 

He is survived by his son, Billy Askins and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Laurie King and husband Brian, Ricky Askins and wife Roxie, Randy Askins, Linsey Campbell and husband Jerrod;  great grandchildren, Justin King and wife Holli, Ethan and Logan Askins, Oliver and Elliot Hilliard, Garrett and Blair Askins, Jaycee, Alleigh, and Jackson Campbell; one great great grandchild on the way; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Tommy was raised in Cleveland, Texas and the surrounding area.  He graduated Cleveland High School. Later in life he made his home in Deep East Texas.  Here he met his wife, Becky Mefford, and the two were married on December 23, 2013, spending over 6 years together. He loved the Lord, his wife, children, grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.  Tommy was an avid outdoorsman. You could find him fishing, hunting, doing woodwork, or just tinkering outside any day of the week. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Tommy enjoyed serving the Lord in many capacities and was a member of Called Out Church in Center, Texas.

Mrs. Johnson passed away February 28, 2020 at a Nacogdoches Medical Center in Nacogdoches, Texas.   Funeral service will be Saturday, March 7, at 10:00 A.M. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1421 Greer Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.   Rev. Wesley Benton will be officiating.

Hubert Parkman

 

 

Hubert Parkman, 89, of Tenaha, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2020, at Ramah Baptist Church in Tenaha with Bro. Keith Keele and Bro. Ross Edward officiating.  Interment will follow at Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha.


Mr. Parkman was born October 9, 1930, in Tenaha, to Thomas Parkman and Minnie Ellen Pickard Parkman.  He was a Christian with many passions in life.  He loved the outdoors, including working in his garden, taking care of the yard, and hunting every opportunity he had.  Of all the passions in his life, his family was the greatest of them all.  His whole hearted love will continue on in the multiple generations he leaves behind.


He is survived by his wife, Janie Parkman of Tenaha; children, Kim Parkman and wife Frankie of Marshall, Darrell Parkman and wife Angela of Gilmer, and Brad Parkman and wife Michelle of McKinney; grandchildren, Tracy, Rachael, Cody, Dalton, Jacob, Travis, Channing, Chaz, Nikki, Derrika, and David; great grandchildren, Joseph, Zack, Kate, Daniel, and Preston; great great grandchildren, Amory and Raylee; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Parkman and Minnie Ellen Pickard Parkman; one sister; and one brother.

Gloria Garza

Gloria Garza, 71, of Center, passed away February 28, 2020, in Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020, and from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2020, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Center. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

 

Mrs. Garza was born September 7, 1948, in Melchor Musquiz Coahuila, Mexico, to Jesus Carrillo and Herlinda Albarado Carrillo.  Her hobbies included fishing, working puzzles, and collecting collectibles. She loved her family.

 

She is survived by her husband, Fernando R. Garza of Center; children, Fernando C. Garza of Center, Jesus C. Garza of St. James, Missouri, Josefa C. Garza of Center, Gloria M. Garza of Center, and Guadalupe M. Melgarejo of LeHigh Acres, Florida; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, four sisters, and one brother.

 

She is preceded in death by her son, Jose Garza; parents, Jesus Carrillo and Herlinda Albarado Carrillo; two brothers, and one sister.

Angel Kristian De La Rosa, 16, of Joaquin, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020, in Joaquin.

Angel was born June 11, 2003, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Cesar De La Rosa and Rebecca Coronado De La Rosa.  He was presently a student at Joaquin ISD and was very involved in the athletic department. Angel was a member of Old Center Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his parents, Cesar De La Rosa and Rebecca Coronado De La Rosa; sister and brothers, Tomasa M. De La Rosa of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cesar De La Rosa Jr. of Keatchie, Louisiana, and Diamond M. De La Rosa of Redding, Pennsylvania; nieces, Angeline Flores and Gaia De La Rosa; aunts and uncles, Ruby Garza, Jessica Chavez, Elaine Chavez, Mary Jane Marcus, Sandra Lynn Leonard, Fonso Chavez, and Susie Davis of Joaquin; numerous cousins; and special friend, Kim Davis.
