In fact, in the dwindling dreams of his last three years, Leon Parrott, stood forthright with his family and friends, no attempt whatsoever to hide the slow progress of his affliction.  But the old Leon sparkled through, warming and lighting the room, even as darkness walked closer.  At the end, his laughter, the only speech that mattered.

In January, 1955, after he graduated, they were married.

Upon graduation, he was hired by Atlas Doors and worked there for six years.  During this time, the company was sold and became E.L. Bruce.  In 1961, he moved his family to Louisiana for nine years.  E.L. Bruce called him to return to Center to work for them again. He remained there until his retirement in 1993.  He worked for the company for a total of 39 years.

Tana Leigh Wilson Hairgrove

Tana Leigh Wilson Hairgrove, 62, of Center, passed away Monday, May 4, 2020, in Center.
Funeral service will be held at Noon, Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Bro. Fred Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Herman Cemetery in Center.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Tana was born January 30, 1958, in Nacogdoches, to James Paul and Lola Wilson.  She was blessed in her early years to travel with her parents over the United States while her dad sang with the Four Mints.

Tana was a 1976 graduate of Center High School and was proud to be on the dance team, The Chaparrals.

The best time of her life came on October 20, 1988, when her son, Tyler, was born.  She adored him and put everything she had into giving him the best life.  She would attend baseball games in Tyler’s younger years and watched him become one of the best doubles tennis player in the state of Texas, where he and his partner won the UIL State Championship his senior year in 2007.  She was so proud of him and loved him so much.

And, oh how excited she was when Tyler and Amanda gave her a precious granddaughter.  Sadie June was born August 1, 2016.  She was over the moon.  Tana was GuGu to Sadie and they were a pair.  Tana’s eyes would just sparkle when you talked about Sadie.  She loved her so much.

Tana married the love of her life, Tom, on June 15, 1998 in Las Vegas.  She loved Tom so much and they were blessed to get to travel many times to different places to enjoy each other’s company.  Tom has been Tana’s sole care taker for the past number of years while she battled cancer, and yes, she fought to the very end.  Every step she took, he was right beside her.  That’s what you call true love.

Tana finished her associate’s degree from Panola College and was employed at Smith Energy in Carthage.  Tana was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Timpson, where she was a bright light to all she met.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Hairgrove Jr. of Center; son, Tyler Patterson and wife Amanda of Whitehouse; granddaughter, Sadie June Patterson of Whitehouse; sister, Traci Morris and husband Tommy of Center; nephew, Brent Gregston and wife Jennifer of Humble; nieces, Briana Goodrum and husband E.J. of Hudson, Lindsey Shuler of Garland, and Lauren and Grayson Holt of Forney; great nephews, Noah Gregston, Jonah Gregston, Ezra Gregston, Layton Goodrum, and Colton Shuler; great niece, Taegan Goodrum; sister and brother-in-law, Twila and Joe Parker of Garland; and special friends, Sherry, Sharon, Sarah, Beth, Racheal, Tina, Shirley, Sharon Nelson, Mary, Tri-County Employees, and Smith Energy Employees.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Paul and Lola Wilson; brother, Darren Wilson; and grandparents, Buford and Ethel Wilson, Kathryn Houston, and Mack Houston.
Pallbearers will be E.J. Goodrum, Stephen Gamble, Jim Sawyer, Joe Parker, Leon Dykes, and Neal Stephenson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Darren Wilson Scholarship, PO Box 1091, Center, Texas 75935.
