Mr. Williams was born to the late Andrew Williams Sr. and the late Accie Richards Williams in Haslem, Texas. Mr. Williams enlisted into the United States Army on December 7, 1954, serving his country for 2 years.

Louise Lawrence, 90, of Joaquin, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in Center.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with visitation at 1:00 p.m. Paul Silvey and Ed Williams to officiate. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Born September 9, 1932, in DeRidder, Louisiana, Louise is the daughter of Bertha Jones Hammock and Thomas W. Hammock. She retired from being a 2 nd grade school teacher after 43 years. Louise was a member of 1 st Baptist Church in Joaquin, where she sung in the choir and loved to help with various activities.

Survivors are children, Ricky Lawrence and wife Nita Ann, Mark Lawrence, and Carol Register; grandchildren, Traci and husband Matthew Mettauer, Michelle and husband Jeremy Morvan, Amber and husband Nathan Phelps, Chad Lawrence and wife Kailyn, Brad Lawrence, Brian Register and wife Tiffany; great grandchildren, Tatum and Garrett Mettauer, Ainsley and McKenna Morvan, Kiptyn and Baylin Phelps, Kinsley Lawrence, and Kason Register; and special friend, Sondra Lawrence; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, A.J. Lawrence; parents, Bertha Jones Hammock and Thomas W. Hammock; brothers, Tommy Hammock and wife Hattie, Donald Hammock and wife Barbara, Billy Hammock and wife Nancy; sisters-in-law, Annette and husband Mickey Permenter and Jo and husband Doc Doxtater; and brother-in-law, Mickey Lawrence and wife Janice. Born February 29, 1936, in Shelby County, Kenneth is the son of Beulah Truitt Gregston and Luke Gregston. He loved to fish. Kenneth was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville.

Born November 17, 1934, Janelle is the daughter of Wanda Comeal Rayburn Buro and Henry Otto Ludwig Buro. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Marlin, where she served as secretary, and a member of First Baptist of Center. Janelle was also a member of Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Carl Rogers and wife Becky, Shelly Rogers, Ed Rogers, Larry Brothers and wife Paula, Jeanette Brothers, and Phyllis Freeman; great nieces and nephews, Matthew Rogers, Chloe Rogers, Joseph Rogers, Lane Rogers, and Lauren Rogers.

Jerry Lee Goetzman, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, in Houston.

Funeral service to be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with visitation at Noon. Johnny Black to officiate. Interment will be at Rosevine Cemetery in San Augustine County. Born December 28, 1948, in Houston, Jerry is the son of Lona Mae Roach and Wayne Goetzman. He had many hobbies, including fishing, hunting, camping, outdoors, horseback riding, and trail riding.

Survivors are daughter, Lisa Goetzman; son, Jason Goetzman and wife Kerri; grandson, Caiden Goetzman; son, Dennis Stringer and wife Sharon; grandsons, Michael Stringer and wife Kristi and Jason Stringer and wife Christi; great grandchildren, Mikey Stringer, Abbi Stringer, Chace Stringer, Cace Stringer, and J.J. Stringer; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Rickey Earl Gilchrist

Rickey Earl Gilchrist, 64, of Center, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022, in Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2022, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Brandon Jones and Gordon Winslow Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Old Salem Cemetery in Shelby County.

Born December 4, 1957, Rickey is the son of Mauddie Anne "Doodle" Gilchrist and C.B. "Buddy" Gilchrist. Rickey was a highly skilled machinist where he specialized in forklift and heavy machinery operations. His hobbies included restoring antique cars, attending and entering classic car shows where he won numerous awards with his blue 1955 Chevy Belair. Rickey was a well known mechanic, he enjoyed passing on his skills and knowledge to his son and grandsons. Rickey was a member of Center First United Pentecostal Church. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Gilchrist; kids, Randall and Kara Gilchrist of Center, Wesley and Brittany Gilchrist of Center, Brandi Gilchrist of Center, and Brittany Gilchrist of Center; grandkids, Colton, Caden, Blaine, Britlee, Mason, Christian, Kylee, and Kyndell; brother, David Gilchrist and wife Angie; cousin, Dickie Gilchrist and wife Eldora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mauddie Ann "Doodle" Gilchrist and C.B. "Buddy" Gilchrist; Baby Gilchrist; and grandparents, Seymore and Lillie Gilchrist. Vaudrine McDaniel

 

Vaudrine McDaniel, 86, of Tenaha, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022, in Nacogdoches.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2022, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Bro. Bill Holmes will officiate and Order of Eastern Star Funeral ceremony will be conducted by Center Chapter #348. Interment will follow at Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha. Vaudrine was a 60 year endowed member of Tenaha Order of East Star #185, which was consolidated with Center Chapter #348. She served as Tenaha Order of Eastern Star Secretary for 26 years and was a past Worthy Matron. Vaudrine was also a member of First Baptist Church of Tenaha, where she was involved with the Ladies 3 Sunday school class.

Born April 20, 1936, Vaudrine is the daughter of Ida Mae Davis Ruddell and James Vernon Ruddell.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Hodge of High Island and Sharon Gray of Martinsville; granddaughter, Brittany Risch of Martinsville; and great grandson, Percy Chapman of Martinsville.

Preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy McDaniel; parents, Ida Mae Davis Ruddell and James Vernon Ruddell; brothers, Frank E. Ruddell, William Durwood Ruddell, and Johnny Franklin Ruddell; and sister, Verna Mae Ruddell Douthit. Pallbearers will be Craig Haltom, Keith Martin, Preston Gillin, Ronnie Fleming, Mark Odom, and Tommy McMahon. Honorary pallbearers will be Royce Perry, Ron Barker, John Harrington, Jerry Agnew, and Al Howard.
