Ronald Wayne Cole, 70, passed away on August 29, 2020.

He was born September 9, 1949, to Hugh Mayfield Cole Jr. and Katie Baker Cole and was a long time resident of Pasadena, TX. He worked for Valero refining company as a welder for over 40 years. He loved riding his Harley and was a Licensed Amateur Radio Operator . 
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances Jones Cole of Pasadena TX; his daughter, Jennifer and spouse Jonathan Barney of Pasadena, TX; two grandchildren, Lucas and Taryn of Pasadena TX; his cousin who was like a brother to him, Phillip Baker of Timpson, TX; cousin, Tommy Moore of Conroe, TX; and many other cousins and extended family members who all loved and adored him. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, H.M. and Katie Cole.

Ramiro “Bo” Soto, 61, of Timpson, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020, in Nacogdoches.
Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2020, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Center with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Interment will follow at Powdrill Cemetery in Center.


Mr. Soto was born October 5, 1958, in Mercedes, Texas, to Rafael and Ursula Soto. “Bo” had a magnetic personality and brought a smile to everyone he encountered.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his nephews and nieces.  He will be forever missed.


He is survived by Ralph Soto Sr. and wife Rhonda of Timpson, Texas, Vangie McGraw of Elkhart, Indiana, Jane Funk and husband Eddie of Ft. Julian Lee Peddy

 

 

Julian Lee Peddy, 91, of Tenaha, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in Tenaha.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2020, at First United Methodist Church in Tenaha with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Bro. Rusty Kilpatrick will officiate.  Interment will follow at Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha.


Mr. Peddy was born May 6, 1929, in Tenaha, to Walter Chambers Peddy Sr. and Ollie Lee Pou Peddy.  He retired from USPS as a mail carrier.  Mr. Peddy enjoyed farming cattle and timber and in his younger years, he enjoyed square dancing and travel. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Tenaha.


He is survived by his wife, Elaine McMahon Peddy of Tenaha; children, Patricia L. Hubbard of Lindale, Robert W. Peddy and wife Sharon of Tyler, and Carol Ann Kilpatrick and husband Frank of Tenaha; step children, Cindy Haltom and husband Craig of Tenaha, Tommy McMahon of Tenaha, and Stephen McMahon and wife Shirley of Houston; grandchildren, Kelli Peddy Trent and husband Jason of Dallas, Amanda Peddy Weaver and husband Jared of Tyler, David M. Sandra Denise Parks, 60, of Center, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020, in Center.

She was a member of Folsom Missionary Church. Sandy was passionate about playing the guitar, piano, writing and singing songs and hymns. She was gifted musical and used it to tell others of God’s love. She loved spending time with her Husband Joe at the beach and lake. She loved her family and never missed an opportunity to be with them. She worked hard at Pilgrim’s Pride for 30 years. She made an impact on so many people throughout her life by being the kind & caring person she was. She always saw the good in people and treated everyone like they were family. This world is a better place because of the life that she lived and the love that she gave.

Mackenzie was born February 16, 2005, in Center, TX.  She was a member of Folsom Missionary Baptist Church. She also attended Woodland Christian Church in Timpson and Lydia MBC in Huxley. Mackenzie enjoyed being a twirler and playing the flute. She was a member of the Timpson Bear Band. She loved spending time with her brother Mason and her many friends. She had a radiant personality that would bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Nicolette Denise Lara

Nicolette Denise Lara, of San Augustine, Texas, passed from this life on August 10, 2020 in Munith, Michigan.  Thus she attained the age of 15 years, 9 months, and 14 days.

 

Nicolette was born to Vicky Grace (Scott) Potts and Ricky Anthony Lara, Sr. on October 27, 2004, in Lufkin, Texas.   She attended school in San Augustine from pre kindergarten to fifth grade where she acquired the love of reading.  While she was in the fifth grade, she was selected as the 5th grade student of the month.  Her favorite subjects were science and reading.  In her spare time she enjoyed playing with her cousins.  She had the aspiration when she grew up to be a singer or chef, and was going to start college classes in High School.  She was good at anything she tried, and had a very vivid imagination.  She loved her family dearly, and above all, she love her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

 

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Vicky Grace Potts of San Augustine; her father, Ricky Anthony Lara, Sr., and his fiancée Veronica Russell of Houston; brothers, Michael Wayne Potts of San Augustine; Ricky Anthony Lara, Jr., of San Augustine; and a sister, Amber Dawn Lara and her fiancé, Eduardo Ramirez of Nacogdoches, along with two nieces, Ari and Evelin, and her aunts, Terrie (Scott) SantaMaria of San Augustine, and Lisa Scott of Miami, Florida, and a uncle, Robert Scott of San Augustine, along with her cousins, Aaron Smith of San Augustine; Kristen Mercado of Houston and Cloey Mendez, Christopher Mercado and Cameryn Mercado, all of Houston and numerous other beloved family members.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020, at the Rosevine United Pentecostal Church located at 8285 Gravelhill Road #5573, Bronson, Texas  75930.  Officiating will be Rev. Don Snider and Rev. Gordon Simmons. 

 

 

 


 

Kelly "Pops" Robertson

 

Kelly “Pops” Robertson, 84, of Tenaha passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 in Longview. 
He was born on July 18, 1936 in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Robertson was raised in Cyprus Bayou and loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Robertson moved to Tenaha in 1993 where he remained with his beautiful wife until she passed away in 2011.

 

Mr. Robertson was a veteran, fisherman, and grandfather. Kelly was a longtime resident of Tenaha and proudly supported the Tenaha Tigers.


Graveside services were held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery with Jeff Stewart officiating.


In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to assist with funeral expense.

Charles played baseball and basketball for CHS and worked at NIBCO.

J.E. Hughes

J.E. Hughes, formerly of Center, passed away on Sunday, August 16th, at the Buckner Parkway Place in Houston. A graveside service will be held for family members only at Forest Park Cemetery in Houston on Monday, August 24th.

 

J.E. Hughes graduated from CHS, and later attended Sam Houston State University on a baseball scholarship. He also worked with Stanolind Oil before retiring in 1989.

Virginia Gail Wade (65), of Alto, passed away on Sunday, August, 16th, 2020. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m, at First Smyrna MBC in Timpson with Dwight Gatlin Sn. officiating.

 

Virginia Gail Wade served as a music minister and lived in the Alto and Rusk areas.

Born February 10, 1961, Dennis is the son of the late Douglas Ray Bruton and Linda Reather Anderson Bruton.  He worked as a cook in a restaurant and served as the treasurer of his local AA Chapter.  Dennis was a member of Bar-None Cowboy Church.

Billy proudly served in the United States Army, where he built his career and eventually retired from.

Alvin Lynn Strong

 

 

Alvin Lynn Strong, 72, of Center, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2020, at his residence.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2020, at Strong Cemetery in Huxley with Brayden Strong officiating. 

 

Mr. Strong was born April 21, 1948, in Longview, to Alvin Lee Strong and Anna Bell Eddins Strong. He worked in carpentry and his hobbies included hunting and fishing.  Mr. Strong was a member of San Augustine Church of Christ.

 

He is survived by his children, Michael Strong and wife Donna of Center, Christy Goode and husband Roger of Mt. Enterprise, and Nikki Strong of Gary; grandchildren, Aaron Strong and wife Laney, Brayden Strong and Sarah, Ashton Quarles and Ethan, and Jenna Quarles; brothers and sister, Cecil Strong and wife Karie of Center, Waymon Strong of Longview, Johnnie Higginbotham of San Augustine, and T.W. Strong of Carthage; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Preceded in death by his wife, Carol Strong; parents, Alvin Lee Strong and Anna Bell Eddins Strong; brothers, “Buddy” Strong and Jerry Wayne Strong; and sister, Marie Born.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Warr, Bryant Hollandsworth, Kevin Greathouse, Chance Porter, Lee Hughes, and Shane Hughes.

Bobby Dale Lout

 

Bobby Dale Lout, of Cleveland, Tx, was born October 30, 1942, in Center, Tx. He was born to Rev. Ewell Maurice Lout and Dorothy LaVerne Sanders Lout. Bobby Lout passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020. Bobby Lout’s funeral will be graveside on Tuesday, August 11.

 

Bobby loved to spend time with friends. He looked forward to going out to eat with friends so they could spend time together and talk. Bobby also was involved with Christian Life Center in Cleveland, Tx. 

 

Bobby is survived by his sisters, Sharon Lout Conway and husband, Luther, and Pamela Lout Parker and husband, Robert; sister-in-law, Judy Lout; mother of his children, Virginia Lout Helms; granddaughter, Courtney Canada; great-granddaughters, Jordyn Lewis and Savannah Canada; great-grandson, Logan Lewis; nieces, Andrea Bartley and husband, Eric, Emily Nations and husband, Chad, and Jessica Sanderson and husband, Kris; nephews, Randy Lout and wife, Yvonne, Michael Lout and wife, Regina, and Justin Conway and wife, Larissa; special friend, Gene Jones, and great nieces, great nephews, numerous cousins, and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly. 

 

Bobby is preceded in death by wife, Cheri Lout; daughter, Susan Canada; son, James Ronald Lout; parents, Rev. Ewell Maurice Lout and Dorothy LaVerne Sanders Lout; brothers Edward Lee Lout and Alton Glen Lout; and sister-in-law, Wilma Jean Lout.

George Naylor Bowers, Sr.

 

 

George Naylor Bowers, Sr., 91, of Tenaha, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020, in Tenaha.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Tommy Brunett officiating.  Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Tenaha.


Born August 16, 1928, in Tenaha, Mr. Bowers is the son of the late Jesse Bowers and Marietta Burough Bowers. He joined the US Navy and later the US Army, during which time he was awarded a Bronze Star.  Mr. Bowers worked for several years as a rural post carrier for USPS, as a business owner, as a farmer, and also served as Mayor of Tenaha for 56 years. He was a member of Center Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing if it wasn’t raining. Mr. Bowers was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tenaha.


He is survived by his children, George N. Bowers Jr. and wife Sherry of Tenaha and Theresa Latham and husband Troy of Gary; grandchildren, Michael Bowers and wife Miranda of Lindale, Timothy Bowers and wife Catlin of Plano, Tiffanie Andrews and husband Shane of Flint, Tracie Cain of Carthage, and Adam Cain and wife Heather of Waco; great grandchildren, Marley and Maddie Bowers of Lindale, Grace Andrews of Tyler, Ashley Andrews of Frisco, Olivia Knight of Frisco, Blaine Tomlin of Carthage, Emma Samford of Carthage, and Marley Cain of Waco; great-great grandchildren, Olivia Knight; and brother, Jesse (Buck) Bowers.


Preceded in death by wife, Laura Bowers; mother, Marietta Bowers; and father, Jesse Bowers.
