Hicks Mortuary is announcing funeral service for Mrs. Helen Joyce Goodwin of Center, Texas. Helen
was born in Center, Texas to the late Ralph Mann and Christine Norris Mann on March 4, 1939. Helen
Goodwin departed her life in Center, Texas on April 17, 2025. Funeral services for will be Friday, April
25, 2025, at Mt. Zion CME Church located at 921 Martin Luther King Drive, Center, Texas 75395. at
11:30 AM. Rev. Richard Earl Edwards Sr. will be the Eulogist.
She was a person devoted to her family and to all that knew her. Helen was a member of Mt Zion CME
Church where she served faith. Helen retired at EL Bruce Hardwood. She worked there for many years.

Mr. Bobby Wayne Runnels, age 64, a longtime San Augustine County resident, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

Mr. Runnels was born September 16, 1960, in Hemphill to parents Herman and Eunice (Kendrick) Runnels. He was a retired parts manager and longtime area resident.

His survivors include his wife, Greta Runnels of Nacogdoches; a son, Derek Runnels of Tyler; daughter, Cheyenne Runnels and Jessica of Nacogdoches; grandson, Wyatt Runnels of Tyler; and a brother, Calvin Runnels and Evelyn of San Augustine County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Eunice Runnels; grandson, Parker Wayne Runnels; his sister, Lassie Dean Hyden; and a brother, Bo Runnels.

Judy Lynn Tolar, a longtime resident of Sabine County, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Mill Creek Nursing Home in Silsbee, Texas, at the age of 68 years, 10 months.

Judy was born June 13, 1956, in Beaumont, Texas, to parents George and Bettie Tolar.

She is survived by her son, Jason McCray; brothers, Ronnie Harris and Judson Tolar; nieces, Keri Green, Danielle Wilkerson, Michelle Ferguson, and Rachel Ferguson; and nephews, Steve Thomas, Brett Thomas, and Chevy Faught.

Troy Lee Risinger, 71, of Shelbyville, Texas, passed away on April 18, 2025, in Nacogdoches, Texas.  He was born on August 6, 1953, in Center, Texas, to James David Risinger and Ruby (Denby) Risinger.  

Funeral service will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Mangum Funeral Home with Bro. Lamar Denby officiating. Interment will follow at West Hamilton Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 5-7PM at Mangum Funeral Home.  

Troy was born and raised in Shelby County. He graduated from Shelbyville High School and joined the United States Marines. Troy Proudly served in the Marines for 9 years. He loved his children. He enjoyed the outdoors while riding his 4-wheeler being chased by his dog, Joe, checking cattle, and fishing.

Brenda Kaye Nixon Standley, born November 13, 1952, in Center, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 20,
2025, after spending 14 days in ICU. She was the daughter of Melvin Eugene Nixon and Mary Joy Ryans Nixon.
Brenda lived a life devoted to her family and loved watching her grand babies grow up. She was the most
generous, caring, kindest person you would have ever met; she would give, give, and give and would rather do
without to give more. If ever a person deserves to have a golden ticket to heaven, she would definitely have one.
Brenda’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Brenda grew up in the Devils Pocket area and attended Deweyville High School. Married her high school
sweetheart for 53 years; whom she had met at the phone booth at (use to be) Nick’s Cafe there in Deweyville.
They had one son, Jeff, who gave her 4 sweet grand babies and a special nephew that she took custody of when
he was 15 whom she considered as her second son whom provided her with two more sweet grand babies.
Brenda was a hard working individual. She worked at the frosty in Deweyville earning $.75 an hour to be able to
buy furnishings for her nursery of soon to be son. Her first home was a new two bedroom mobile home 53 foot
long where she lived with her husband in Starks, Louisiana. They moved the mobile home to a lot they bought in
Orangefield where they lived for a few years and later sold it and bought a two bedroom brick home in Bridge
City. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bridge City where she talked pre-kindergarten and Sunday
school. She went to Lamar University in Beaumont. She later moved with her family to Parachute, Colorado,
where she live for 10 years. There she worked at a convenience store and later a bank in Glenwood Springs and
then the property manager over battlement Mesa modular homes and apartments. She then moved with her
family back to Louisiana in Sulphur. There she worked for Westlake Polymer group. She later moved with her
husband to Saudi Arabia, where she worked at an expat school. After about 10 years, she moved with her
husband, back to Sulphur Louisiana; there she went to work for Sweet Lake Land and Oil company. She moved
again with her husband to Pasadena, Texas and went to work for Chevron downtown Houston. She retired from
Chevron 2016 and her husband retired a few months later where they lived a comfortable and relaxing retirement
in Deer Park Texas.
Brenda vacationed abroad in Hawaii, Dubai, Amsterdam, but mostly in the United States. She enjoyed multiple
cruises to the Caribbean. She enjoyed renting homes in Galveston and Crystal beaches and having the kids and
grandkids come. In her younger years she enjoyed going camping (in a tent) in local areas such as lake Rayburn,
Dam-B, and numerous beaches. She owned a dirt bike; her and her husband and son would take adventures into
the unknown. She took a couple of vacation trips traveling through Colorado. Her favorite memories probably
came from the lake house they had purchased at Bailey Bluff on Toledo Bend where the kids and grandkids
would come and visit.
Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Nixon, twin sister, Linda Nixon, and parents, Melvin and
Mary Joy Nixon.
Brenda is survived by her husband Herbert Standley and her sweet Bella (Yorkie), son Jeffrey Standley and his
wife Denise and grandchildren Seth, Isaac, Noah, Cecilia; son Jeremy Ashcraft and his wife, Ginger, and two
grandchildren, Evia & Eloise; sisters, Mary Jane and husband Morris Sanders, and Sandria Whitten, and five
nephews and their families.

A graveside service honoring Brenda will be held at Jackson Cemetery near Joaquin, Texas, Tuesday at 1 PM April
22, 2025.

Kay Watson, 80, of Center, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Center.

Pate. She graduated from Timpson ISD. Kay loved her family.

Barbara Ann Whitaker Holloway of Etoile, Texas, was called to her heavenly home on April 16, 2025, in Lufkin, Texas. She was born September 1, 1945, at Fort Crockett on Galveston Island, Texas, to Oscar William Whitaker and Clara Etta Pyle. She was raised in Apple Springs, Texas, by her great-grandparents, Malrey and Nora Pyle, where she attended the Baptist church and graduated high school.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 21, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 W. Columbia in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, followed by graveside services at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile, Texas.

She was a strict but fair mother and spoiling grandmother with a beautiful smile and a tender loving heart. She was an excellent cook and never knew how to cook for just two people. Her chicken and dumplings, old school venison and gravy, chocolate cake, and coconut cake were legendary. She loved her Dr Pepper and Coke. She had a work ethic second to none and in her later years, a passion for reading.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Elma D. "Bill" Holloway of Etoile, Texas; daughters, Rusti Allen (Micky Sr.) of Black Jack, Texas, Penny Whisenant (Bobby) of Etoile, Texas, Sherri Harrison of Nacogdoches, Texas, Lora Turner (Tom) of Etoile, Texas, Deanna Sheffield (Melvin) of Oakwood, Texas, and Robbie Jo Pinkston (Michael Sr.) of Black Jack, Texas; son, Billy Holloway of Nacogdoches, Texas; sisters, Linda Whisenant of Etoile, Texas, Sue Pillows of Lufkin, Texas, Brenda Whitton of Etoile, Texas, Gwenda Britt (Roy) of Etoile, Texas, Jean Chambers of Chireno, Texas, Julia Henson (Kent) of Lufkin, Texas, and Rhonda Griffin of Woden, Texas; brother, Elvin Cook of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister-in-law, Sherron Cook of Lufkin, Texas; and her aunt, Stella Anzo Richardson (Kent) of Lufkin, Texas. Jay Dee Cockrell, 64, of Joaquin, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 8, 2025.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in
Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro.

Jay Dee was born on July 10, 1960, in Logansport, Louisiana, to James Horace Cockrell and Jo Dell Edburg
Cockrell. He was an Eagle Scout and a 1978 graduate of Joaquin High School. He spent his life working hard,
taking care of his family, and showing up for his community.
He started out in the oilfield before settling into poultry farming, raising broilers for 40 years. He also raised cattle
and took pride in everything he did.
Over the years, Jay Dee served on the Huxley City Council, coached little league teams, and held positions on the
Joaquin ISD School Board, the Shelby County Tax Appraisal Board, and the Joaquin Fire District Board. He was
proud to serve as President of the Sholar Cemetery Association and was a steady supporter of the Shelby County
Livestock Show. He was awarded the Honorary Lone Star Degree from the Texas FFA Association. Jay Dee was a
member of the Shelby County Cookers and a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go
Texan Committee.
In 1981, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Selisha Kay Cockrell. They shared 43 years together,
built on love, loyalty, and a whole lot of grit. She was his rock — the one who stood by his side through every
season of life. Jay Dee was never prouder than when it came to his kids. Supporting them and watching them
grow into who they are today brought him more joy than anything. He loved being with family and friends —
always ready to lend a hand, tell a story, or share a laugh.
Jay Dee always had a way of figuring things out — a true problem solver. He could fix or figure out just about
anything and always had something to say. He was a straight shooter, and yes, a certified bullshitter — always
with a good heart.
Jay Dee will be remembered for his grit, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family, his work, and his
community. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the example he set.

Betty V. Massey, 76, of Tenaha, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, in Center.
Her wishes were to be cremated.
Born March 28, 1949, Betty is the daughter of Floyd Parker and Virginia Rich Parker. She spent her time
gardening and taking care of her flowers. Betty loved gambling and used her wins to support her jewelry
shopping addiction.
She is survived by her daughter, Naomi Stiles and husband John Jr. of Tenaha; son, James V. Massey III and
wife Kathy of Center; grandchildren, Melanie Farmer and husband Jason, Stephanie Stiles, Stacie Greear and

Mary Nell Walton Willis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at the Joseph House in Lufkin, Texas, surrounded by her devoted family.

Born on January 10, 1945, in Orange, Texas, to John Preston Walton and Eliza Fox Walton, Mary Nell was raised on a family farm in San Augustine County, with her siblings, Donald, Byron, Hubert, and Gail. Mary Nell attended Broaddus schools and she and her family were active members of Attoyac Baptist Church.

Her lifelong love story with John Willis began in childhood and blossomed into a beautiful marriage on July 16, 1962. Together, they raised their children—Prudence, Sean, and Angela—with love and dedication.

A passionate educator, Mary Nell earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in education, touching countless students’ lives throughout her teaching career. She found joy in traveling, family time, and cherished memories in Galveston. Her warmth, humor, and selfless love made her a treasured presence in the lives of many.

Mary Nell is survived by her husband, John Willis; children, Prudence, Sean and his wife, Angeline, and Angela and her husband, Billy Phillips; grandchildren, John Wesley, Shane Henry, Taylor Mary, Clayton Charles, Brad Richard, Brooke Lee, and Troy Drayton; and great-grandchildren, Jack Snead, Harper Rose, and Drayton John.

Mary Nell was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Walton.

A funeral mass will be held for Mary Nell at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Saint Augustine Catholic Church in San Augustine, Texas. Pallbearers will be John Willis, Shane Willis, Clay Willis, Troy Willis, Brad Phillips, and Pearson Randel.

Mr. Leonard Autry Evett, age 82, of San Augustine County, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Stone Creek Nursing Home in San Augustine.

Mr. Evett was born May 16, 1942, in San Augustine County's Goodwin Community to parents Kirby C. and Era (Holloway) Evett and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of Attoyac Baptist Church. Leonard was a lifelong mechanic and retired from owning his own shop after 55 years. He loved circle track and drag racing.

His survivors include his son, John Evett of Nogalus Prairie, Texas; a daughter, Sondra Prothro and her husband, Michael, of Apple Springs, Texas; granddaughters, Krystal Innerarity and husband, Garrett, and Mika McMullen and her husband, Brad; grandson, Myles Prothro; and great-grandchildren, Leighton Lofton, Connor Kaufman, and Bradyn Kaufman.

The passing of Elizabeth Ann (Liz) Wright Emmons of San Augustine, Texas, leaves a deep void in the hearts of many. She departed this life on March 30, 2025, at the age of 85. 

Born Elizabeth Ann Fry (Annie) to Otherine and Oliver Fry on September 23, 1939, on a farm in San Saba, Texas, she spent her childhood playing alongside her siblings and helping her parents with farm work. A true outdoorswoman from a young age, she developed a passion for hunting and fishing that stayed with her throughout her life.

Over the years, she explored various careers, working as a waitress, hairstylist, driver’s education teacher, and a top real estate sales agent.  However, her greatest joy came from working with special education children, ensuring their safe transport to and from school. She was deeply honored to serve in this role and retired proudly from Klein Transportation in Spring, Texas. 

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted lover of God. She had a tender heart for animals, especially dogs and stray cats. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, sewing, cooking, dancing, and caring for and riding horses.

With a vibrant spirit, she lit up every room she entered and was always the life of the party. A gracious hostess, she took great pride in bringing people together. Her most cherished memories were those spent cooking for and being surrounded by her family. Above all, she was proud to have raised her children with a strong, faith-based foundation.

Regardless of how you knew her — as Liz, Annie, MeMe, or Cookie — her generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who loved her.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister Olline Fry Ray; daughter Belinda Bufkin and her husband Stephen, grandchildren Sharon Elizabeth Wells Chase, and her husband Joshua Chase, great-grandson Hayes Waylon Chase, grandson Marti Lynn Wells and his wife Tara Wells, and great-granddaughter Hallie Wells Phillips; son Gerald Lilly and his wife Tammy and grandsons Nicholas Lilly and Clayton Truesdell, great-grandchildren Camden Truesdell and Cate Truesdell; daughter Susie Wright Jimenez and her husband Ildefonso, granddaughter Savannah Elizabeth Mannari and husband Alex Mannari, and great-grandsons Maxwell Wright Mannari and Murphy William Mannari, granddaughter Christanna and her husband Ankit Bhardwaj and great-granddaughters Hadleigh and Penelope, granddaughter Arabella and husband Casey Gross, grandson Santiago Jimenez; daughter Traci Wright Robb and her husband Ron, granddaughter Tiffany Kurowski and great-grandchildren Thomas Joseph Kurowski Jr.; Taylor Jordan Kurowski, and Tatum Joyce Kurowski; and grandson Evan Terway. 

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Leo Wright and Weldon Emmons; her brother, Tommy Fry; her parents, Otherine Nixon and Oliver Fry; and her daughter, Leslie Ann Brawner Terway.

She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her immediate family, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Greg "Hatchet" Hinson, age 65, of Bronson, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Greg was born October 27, 1959, in Beaumont, Texas, to parents Jack and Wilma (Baldree) Hinson. In early life, he lived with his family in Egypt and Venezuela, before they moved to Rosevine, Texas, and he graduated from West Sabine High School. "Hatchet" had lived in Bronson, Texas, for the past several years. He had worked as a millwright in the refineries as well as a truck driver, and a carpenter.

Mary Charlotte Boles Broadway, 89 of Timpson, passed away peacefully, March 26, 2025 in Nacogdoches after a wonderful life as a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and dedicated servant to her beloved Timpson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2025 at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with Rev. Ozay Ford officiating. Eulogy by Mayor Debra Smith. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.

Family visitation with friends will take place, 5 to 7 p m., Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Taylor Funeral Home.

Charlotte was born to Clarence and Nannie Mary Strong Boles on August 12, 1935 in the Rusk County community of Concord. 

She attended school in Concord and Mt Enterprise, and was crowned homecoming queen at Mt Enterprise High in 1950.

Two days after turning 16, she and the love-of-her life, Forest Broadway were united in marriage, August 14, 1951, and spent 56 years together before his passing in April 2008. In 1962 they welcomed their son, Tracy Allen, and in 1968, a daughter, Mary Christi. 

Along the way, she supported Forest from the sideline, as “un-official owner” in his business endeavors. Including: Quik-Clean Laundry, Tracy's Malt Shop, Tracy's Coffee Shop, and Broadway Fireworks.

Charlotte's greatest joy was seeing her children and grandchildren happy, provided for, and knowing she cared and loved them, regardless. Her favorite past-time was enjoying the company of those grand-children, Seeing their smiles, and the sound of their laughter.

Forest & Charlotte provided a loving Christian home, and instilled in their children life values, including respect, honesty, and a dedicated work ethic.

Not long after marriage, Charlotte began a 69 year working career that saw her have only two jobs, both in Timpson.

She went to work for Frank Bussey at Bussey Drug Store, where she spent 32 years waiting on customers, to assisting the pharmacist in filling prescriptions. One day in 1983, late mayor, Ross Graves, Jr. placed a phone call telling Charlotte a clerk was needed at city hall. She accepted, and spent the next 36 years until retirement in 2019. 

Along the way she developed friendships with customers and citizens, that lasted a lifetime.

Being a pride-filled lady, she never left  home unless she was “properly dressed”, including make-up and hair, “just right”, and those manicured red nails.

Faith was important to her, as a life-time Methodist, serving as a Sunday School teacher of 5th & 6th graders at First United Methodist Church, Timpson. She enjoyed attending worship service so much.

In addition, her love of youngsters led to her serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Bear Band Booster parent.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers John, C.M. (Marion), and Jim Boles, and husband Forest.

Survivors include:

Sam was born February 26, 1936, in Austin, Texas, to Sam W. Lane, Sr. and Irene Childs Lane, who predeceased
him. He spent his early years in Center, Texas, with his aunt and uncle, Judge Wardlow Lane and Lois Lane and
was devoted to both them and his parents. Sam graduated from the University of Texas School of Business and
later joined the United States Army in 1960. He earned his Juris Doctor in 1965 from the University of Texas at
Austin School of Law, admitted to Texas Bar in 1966, and went on to open a private law practice in Dallas, Texas.
Sam enjoyed listening to music, reading, and watching football, especially the Texas Longhorns. He loved his
afternoon naps, jogging, skiing, and spending time in Pagosa Springs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam W. Lane, Sr. and Irene Childs Lane; and brother, Wardlow Lane II.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frances; sister-in-law, Linda; nieces, Lauren Lane and Aleshia Fife and

Barbara Jean Sigler Cruse, 81, of Center, Texas, passed away on March 23, 2025, surrounded by loved ones in Bronson, Texas.  She was born on October 21, 1943, in Center, Texas, to the late Wesley Griffin and Louise (Campbell) Griffin.

After Charles passed in 2004, Barbara later married Fred Cruse, and the two spent several years together before his passing. Barbara loved her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. She enjoyed spending time with them. Barbara loved gospel music; her favorite was attending Gospel Jamboree’s. She also enjoyed shopping and going to eat different places. She enjoyed the outdoors watching her birds eat.

Margurett Basham Crandall, age 87, of Bronson, Texas, passed away at her residence on January 28, 2025.

Margurett was born September 27, 1937, in Maceo, Kentucky, to James and Mae Basham. She attended Maceo Elementary and graduated from Davies County High School.

After graduation, she moved to Owensboro, Kentucky, to start work at Owensboro Hospital. She then married the love of her life, "Bud," after they wrote letter to each other a few months. Bud went to Kentucky to bring his bride home to Texas. They married on October 8, 1960, and were married for 62 years. Her Love passed away January 17, 2023.

She loved her Lord and was very active in doing the Lord's work. She was a stay-at-home mom. Margurett enjoyed working in her garden and growing her own so she could can the food she raised for her family. She enjoyed painting and doing various crafts.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church on FM 83 East in Broaddus, Texas, with Pastor Don Lofton officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine, Texas.

Richard Allan Brown, 67, of Center, TX, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving
family. He was a devoted husband and father, a hardworking pipeliner, and a man whose steadiness and quiet
strength provided a sense of comfort to all who knew him. 
Born on November 9, 1957, Richard dedicated his life to providing for his family, spending years working the pipelines, where he is remembered as the pipeline legend, Richard “on the ground” Brown, and revered as one of the best in the industry.
Beyond his work, Richard was a man of kindness and unwavering steadiness. He never hesitated to lend a
helping hand. His generosity was not just in what he gave but in the time and love he shared with those around
him.
He was a devoted father and grandfather, always putting his family first. Some of our fondest memories are
waking up to the smell of breakfast he lovingly prepared and riding the side by side with his grandkids, nieces
and nephews through the fields, which typically concluded with launching a jump off the hill behind #1 while they
screamed with excitement. He could also be found pushing his grands in a swing, planting and harvesting a
garden with them, or reading with one on each knee. His love was evident in every moment.
While sometimes a man of few words, he could quickly become a man of many when he turned on his auctioneer
chant.  He never passed up the opportunity to tell a good joke such as William HH Yates…and we probably
shouldn’t tell rest of that story. He found joy in entertaining his family and friends with his auctioneering skills
and subtle humor. To this very day his grandkids are still pondering whether purple is actually green.
When he wasn’t working or entertaining, you could find him on a lake, rod in hand, casting a line and enjoying
the peace that fishing brought him. 
Richard leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Tina Lawson Brown of Center; children, Chad Brown and wife Brandi
of Nacogdoches, Eric Brown of Center, Loren Clifton and husband Russell of Lufkin; grandchildren, Logan Brown,
Cayman Brown, Preston Brown, Sadie Clifton, Ava Clifton, Jax Clifton, and Delilah Clifton; sisters, Dr. Debrah
Worsham and husband Phil of Joaquin and Karen Fallin and husband David of Tenaha; brothers, Randy Brown
and wife Holley of Tyler, Keith Brown of Center, and Bradley Brown and wife Kerrie of Center; special family,
Doug Y’Barbo and Chris Allen.
He is now reunited with his parents Charles Dean Brown and Shirley Ruth Head Brown.
Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm, Monday, March 24, 2025, at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center. A
service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 2pm at Watson and Sons
Chapel with David Fallin and Phil Worsham officiating.  Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Center.

Lisa Gail Jackson, 54, of Center, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Center.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Bennett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Shelbyville with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Bishop W.C. Martin will officiate.  Interment will follow at Bennett Chapel Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Lisa Gail Jackson was begot to the late Clemon Earl Jackson and Lucille Cartwright Bazile on January 10, 1971, in Center, Texas.  She began her educational journey at Fredonia Inn Elementary in Nacogdoches, Texas.  She graduated high school at Kashmere High School in Houston, Texas.

She was a proud and extremely supportive mother to her beloved son, Ismael Jackson – the love of her life!  Birthing him gave her a new lease on life.  Lisa was very involved in his academics and extracurricular levels of development.  She was a brief member of Abundant Love Church under the leadership of Pastor Marlin Cloudy.  She continued her fellowship at Bennett Chapel Church.  Her fun-loving personality will always be adored.

She leaves to cherish one son, Ismael Jackson; mother, Lucille Bazile; six sisters, Deborah Jones, Reta Perodin, Lorea Bonaparte, LaTasha Teamer, Penny Bazile, and Tamesha Bazile; one brother, Charlie Jackson; and a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love her unconditionally.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara L. Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Brinson, Izaiah Stanberry, Tommie Ray Mason, Elijah Gatlin, Joe Bolton, Bray Moore, Patrick Moore, and Ethan Lee.  Honorary pallbearers will be Xavier Bazile, Zuri Singleton, Elliott Phylow, and Charleston Jackson.

Barbara Colleen Real Johnson, 78, of Timpson, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in Timpson.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2025, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center
with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Her wishes were to be cremated.
Born July 14, 1946, in Beaumont, Colleen is the daughter of James Gail Real and Euriel Francis Daws Real. She
was a member of The Lighthouse in Mt. Enterprise. She previously taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and
served as music director and an organist in church. Her hobbies included drawing, painting, and singing.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Wayne Johnson of Timpson, Samuel Embyr Johnson of Timpson, and
Theresa Barber of Omaha, Arkansas; grandchildren, Lee Chriswell, Geoffrey Chriswell, Chase Chriswell, Christian
Chriswell, and Pixie Johnson; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Eileen Real.
Preceded in death by husband, Troy Malcolm Johnson; parents, James Gail Real and Euriel Francis Daws Real;
and brother, Wayne Earl Real.

Billy Floyd Fults, Sr., 62, of Joaquin, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in Joaquin.

Center. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Watson & Sons Chapel with
Michael Joe Byrd officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Born May 18, 1962, in Zwolle, Louisiana, Billy is the son of Loid Fults and Ruth Fults. He loved the great
outdoors, classic cars, watching television, eating honey buns, and simply being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Fults; children, Shannon Fults and Billy Fults Jr.; grandchildren, Christian Smith
and wife Sylvia Schepps-Smith, Katlyn Hunt, Trenton Hass, Molleigh Fults, Mason Fults, Alexis Rowe; great
grandchildren, Charlie Perry and Easton Hass; siblings, Betty Faircloth, Larry Fults, and David Fults; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by son, Andrew Fults; parents, Loid and Ruth Fults; siblings, Lois Gonzales, Ricky Fults, and
Bobby Fults.
