Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Center. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Born February 29, 1984, Jose is the son of Cleotilde Camarillo Herrera and Jose Ascencio Rodriguez Lara.  

He is survived by wife, Maria Veronica Moreno; son, Edwin Rodriguez; daughter, Sofia Rodriguez; father, Jose Asencion Rodriguez Lara; mother, Cleotilde Camarillo Herrera; sisters, Mayra Rodriguez and husband Julio Luna, Yuliana Rodriguez and husband Mario Valdez, and Lizeth Rodriguez and husband Aldo Mendoza; grandparents, Guillermo Camarillo and Isidra Herrera; nieces and nephews, Mayra Luna and husband Bryan Gallegos, Julio Luna, Regina Luna, Nicolas Valdez, Rodrigo Valdez, Aldo Mendoza, and Leonardo Gallegos.

Preceded in death by Leonardo Rodriguez Robles and Mercedes Lara Gaytan.

John Bryant Chapman, 28, of Logansport, Louisiana, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, in Nacogdoches.

Born January 1, 1994, John is the son of Judy Richard and Hugh Chapman.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and spending all the time he could with his kids.

Survivors include parents, Judy and Hugh Chapman of Logansport, Louisiana; children, Hayven Chapman, Carleigh Chapman, and Baylor Chapman; brother, J.D. Glaze; sisters, Felicia Louis, Lacey Mustin, and Jessica McCoid; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Tena Denese Moragas

 

 

Tena Denese Moragas, 57, of Center, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022, in Center.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2022, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Chuck Horton officiating.

Born December 12, 1964, Tena is the daughter of Linda Samford and Bobby D. Watson.  She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, riding her side by side, and beach trips.  Tena loved her dogs and loved spending time with grandkids.  

Survivors include daughter, Elissa and husband Cody Taylor; son, Nathan Hathorn and wife Cadence; grandchildren, Kypton Taylor, Madyx Taylor, Elli Hathorn, Eathan Hathorn, and Ezra Hathorn; sister, Lisa and husband Charlie Verrett; nephews, Radi Verrett and Ashley Alumbaugh, and Bubba Verrett; niece, April and husband Gavin Victoria.

Albert Carlisle McGee Jr

 

Albert Carlisle McGee Jr., 87, of Center, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022, in Center.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with interment to follow at North Jericho Cemetery in Center.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Born October 28, 1934, in McCool, Mississippi, Albert is the son of Lura McClelland and Albert Carlisle McGee Sr.  He played football for Weir High School and later joined the United States Air Force.  He served during the Korean War, Cuban Crisis, and Vietnam War, retiring after 23 years of service.  Following retirement, he worked in the oil field and became a licensed heavy equipment operator.  Albert cleared his land in East Texas and raised chickens and cattle on his farm with his family.  He loved North Jericho Church, where he was involved in its reopening after 24 years.  Albert was the last remaining deacon.  He loved Pastor Mike Belgard and Connie.  Albert enjoyed live music and always surrounded himself with his family and dear friends who were like family - John Oliver, Waylon George, John Watson, late “Runt” Ramsey, and Danny Paul and Sally Windham.

Survivors include wife, Mary Vivian Bailey McGee; daughter, Tamara “Tammy” Alicia McGee Anderson; son, Albert Carlisle “Chip” McGee III; grandson, Mark Shannon Anderson and fiance, Casey Davis; brother, Jimmie C. McGee; sister, Nancy Malek; and special friends, Robin Fulsom Andrews and Melanie Scott.

Preceded in death by parents, Lura McClelland and Albert Carlisle McGee Sr.; brother, J.D. McGee; and sisters, Ellie Curtis and Elsia Wilson.

Alton Hurst Clark, 66, of Joaquin, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022, in Joaquin.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2022, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born December 31, 1955, Alton is the son of Virginia Townsend and Daniel Gilbert Clark.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and welding.  

He is survived by his wife, Bethe Ann Clark of Joaquin; children, Keith Clark and Andrea of Nacogdoches, Michael Clark of Nacogdoches, Kristi Porter and Robert of Center, Vickie Bragg and husband Justin of Joaquin, and Douglas Bragg and Clara of Center; grandchildren, Cheyenne Clark and wife Summer, Justin Clark and wife Odalis, Zack, Bryan and wife Ashton, Dillon, Daniel Clark and wife McKenzie, Brooklyn and husband Joshua, Levi, Savannah, Sarah, Junior, and Stephanie; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Judy Faulkner of Houston and Rhonda McCrohan and Tom of Dennison.

Mona Ray Daw Brandt

 

Mona Ray Daw Brandt, 81, of Joaquin, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, in San Antonio.

Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center with visitation at Watson & Sons Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m.  Tim Perkins will officiate.

Born January 2, 1941, Mona is the daughter of Lorine Blount Daw and Burk Daw.  She was master of many tasks – sales, writing, photography, business ownership, restaurant owner, etc.  In Shelby County, Mona served as a SCSO Deputy.  Hobbies included puzzles, writing, painting, reading her Bible, crafting, and family.  A huge SPURS fan, Mona loved watching basketball! She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served as Associate Pastor and Sunday School Teacher.

Survived by son, John Edward Brandt, and daughter-in-law, Twilla Lynn Brandt; son, Stephen Anthony Brandt; grandchildren, John Matthew Brandt, Ashley Nichole Whitehead, Christina Rene Brandt, and Charlea Jones; also, many great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Lorine Blount Daw and Burk Daw; and brother, Wayford A. Daw.

Pallbearers will be John Brandt, Brandon Whitehead, Stephen Brandt, Christina Brandt, Matt Brandt, and Matthew Brandt.  Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Brandt.

Tommy Glenn McClelland, 74, of Center, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

Graveside service will be held at Noon, Friday, July 15, 2022, at Old Sardis Cemetery in San Augustine County with visitation at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Deacon Mike McClelland will officiate.

Born October 12, 1947, in Pineland, Tommy is the son of Lela Boyd and Floyd McClelland. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart. Tommy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by wife, Claudia McClelland; sons, Heath McClelland, Bryan McClelland and wife Bonnie, and Jason McClelland; grandchildren, Corey McClelland and wife Shelby, Tristan McClelland, Kilye and husband Colton Parker, Kaylee McClelland, and Hailey McClelland; brothers, Willie McClelland and wife Sue and Jimmy McClelland and wife Judy; sister, Christine Compton; brother-in-law, Jesse Hudspeth and wife Sandy, Henry Hudspeth and wife Shelly, Yancy Hudspeth and wife Christina, and Frank Hudspeth; sister-in-law, Nina Walker and John Miles; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Elizabeth J. (Betty) Hill

Mrs. Elizabeth J. (Betty) Hill, of Logansport, passed away Wednesday July 6, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Betty Hill was born April 3, 1928 in Shreveport, Louisiana to James Paul “Jack” Jones of Tipton, Iowa and Ruby Lucille Williams of Kosciusko, Mississippi.  She is survived by daughters, Deborah McCune and husband Cecil, Kathleen Stoll and husband Brian, Lisa Hitt and husband David, Suzanne Tewalt and husband Charlie, Kelly Darden and husband Tim.  Her grandchildren were; Jennifer Graham, Amy Burford, Kimberlee Perry, Jim Cooke, Katie Hitt, Matthew Hitt, Shelley Modisette, Lauren Patton, Joshua Darden, Jackson Darden, and Christian Darden; 19 Great-Grandchildren; 2 nieces and one nephew and a host of friends.  She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Logansport, La.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Dwight M. Hill, parents “Jack” and Ruby Jones, brother James Paul Jones, Jr., great granddaughter Ashley Faith Modisette.

A celebration of life will be held at The First United Methodist Church of Logansport, La on July 30, 2022.

Lunch for the family will be held in the Fellowship Hall at 11:00

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. and the Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00.

Interment will follow, at O.E. Price Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana.  Family only.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church P.O. Box 177 Logansport, LA 71049.

*The family extends a very special thank you to Christus Schumpert 3rd floor nurses and Doctors who took such amazing care, attention and love of Betty.  Also they would like to thank the Hospice staff, Wendi and Jami, of Christus Hospice and Pallative Care and Dr Massengill for the kindness that was shown to all of us at this difficult time.  They all deserve to be recognized for their compassion, love and dedication to their patients.
