Shelby Sewical Bee Adult Quilting Club to Begin New Year

January 20, 2023 Shelby Sewical Bee Adult Quilting Club to Begin New Year Want to participate in a monthly block quilting club in Shelby County while spending some social time learning sewing techniques with other quilters? Then register to particiate in the Shelby Sewical Bee hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. The Shelby Sewical Bee will meet the fourth Saturday of each month from 9:00 am until noon, beginning February 25 at the Shelby County Extension office, 266 Nacogdoches Street, Center. The club will feature a Baker Street Mystery Block of the Month sew-along, a Sew and Share time, a Quilt shop field trip, and provide opportunities for members to participate in a community project to make Quilts of Valor to recognize the service of our Shelby County veterans. Sewing machines are available for participant use or you are welcome to bring your own. Annual dues are only $20 per adult participant. Participants are responsible for providing their own fabric. Beginning sewing machine experience is needed and registration in advance is required. NEW MEMBER/GRAND OPENING RIBBON CUTTING JOE'S ITALIAN RESTAURANT

The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Staff invite the public to join them at a New Member/Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting for Joe’s Italian Restaurant on Wednesday, February 1 at 10:30 am. They are located at 130 Nacogdoches Street in Center on the Historic Downtown Square and are open Tuesday through Sunday 11:00 am until 9:00 pm. Joe’s Italian Restaurant is a family owned business and have three other locations in Texas: El Campo, Temple and Killeen. Ben Ponari has been the owner for 8 years but has been in business for 10 years and is the manager of the Center location. They offer an extensive menu including appetizers, salads, pizza, subs, pasta, seafood entrees and dessert. They also offer a lunch menu and have kid friendly menu options. Beekeeping Meeting

The Sabine County Beekeepers will meet for our monthly meeting on Monday February 6th. at 6:30PM. We meet every 1st Monday of the month at 6:30PM at the Sabine County Chamber of Commerce, on the square, downtown Hemphill. We welcome the public to come out and join us. SHERIFF WINDHAM REPORTS THE ARREST OF MILLER

Sheriff Kevin W. Windham reports the arrest of Jodie Miller, 38, of Center. On December 21, 2022 Shelby County deputies took a theft report for a property located on County Road 2571 in Shelbyville. Shelby County Sheriff’s Office CID Investigator Aaron Jones began investigating the case. Investigator Jones followed up on several leads in regards to the property that was stolen and after a one-month investigation, was able to recover a large number of the items.Miller was arrested January 22, 2023 and charged with Theft of Property >=$2,500<$30K (SJF) and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (F-3). He posted $3,500 bonds and was released January 23, 2023. This case is still under investigation and more arrests are expected.

If one of the signup dates doesn’t work for you, please come by City Hall before February 10th to sign up. After February 10th, there will be a $15 late fee added to the registration. Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society Meeting Inbox

Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society will welcome Dow McWilliams as our speaker Wenesday. January 18, at 2 PM, in the Timpson Public Library annex. Mr. McWilliams will speak about how he remembers Timpson from his youth. He will focus on an aerial photo, labeled as circa 1929 and taken by his uncle Terry Crawford. Briefly, he will discuss Ramsey family connections. Mr. McWilliams grew up in Timpson, leaving in 1961 to obtain a BS degree in 1964 from Stephen F. Austin State College, followed by a MS degree from that institution in 1966. He also earned a MS degree in science from what was then East Texas State University. His career included teaching at Blinn College and SFA, also serving as a visiting lecturer at Texas Tech University. Mr. McWilliams retired from Brazosport College as chairman of the Division of Math and Sciences. TAGHS invites the public to attend and share any memories of Timpson in bygone days. Shelby County Outreach Ministries will have their Praise 2023 fundraiser on February 11th, 2023. It will be at the John D. Windham Civic Center starting at 5:30. There will be local singers, refreshments, and live and silent auctions. All proceeds will go to helping us feed the hungry and assist the needy in Shelby County. Outdoor Dutch Oven Cooking

The Toledo Bend Chapter of the Lone Star Dutch Oven Society will be cooking Saturday January 21st , and every 3rd Saturday at Boles Field outside of Shelbyville, Texas. The public is invited to eat and learn about the art of Dutch oven cooking and if up to the challenge become a member. We start cooking about 9:00 am and have pots on the table at 12 noon. SCSO INVESTIGATING THEFT OF FOURWHEELER

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a 4-wheeler. On or about December 28, 2022, a Grizzly 550 4x4 4-wheeler was removed from a deer lease in the Hollow Rock area located in the Silas/Stockman community. Denning Water Supply Boil Water Notice

Effective Jamuary 4, 2023

Until further notice

Due to a break in the line, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the Denning Rural Water System PWS # 2030004 to notify customers on CR 256 to boil their water prior to consumption (eg., washing hands/ face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes. Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customer that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice. Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received the notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail. If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Denning Rural Water System at 220 W.
