Press Release- Jason Bridges

Jose Loredo, 62 years of age, was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail on 08-22-2020. He was convicted on a DWI, felony offense, and sentenced to TDCJ (the Texas Prison System).  Mr. Loredo was housed in the Nacogdoches County Jail, while awaiting admission and transfer to TDCJ.  Mr. Loredo was housed in C Block, Cell 2, which is a single man housing cell.  On October 3, 2021, jail staff was notified of a “man down” in C Block. They responded to the scene and found Inmate Loredo inside his cell on the floor.  Inmate Loredo stated that he had fallen inside his cell, and struck the toilet. Inmate Loredo was alone inside the cell when he fell.  EMS was immediately called to the scene, and he was transported to a local hospital.  Details of his medical condition cannot be reported at this time due to HIPAA restrictions.

Mr. Loredo remained in the hospital until his death on November 18, 2021 at 5:45 a.m.  Although Mr. Loredo was in the hospital continuously for 46 days, his death is technically considered an in-custody death since he was never released from TDCJ.  Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Kerry Don Williamson was notified of the death, and Judge Williamson ordered an autopsy, which is standard procedure for all in-custody deaths.  Texas Ranger Jim Hicks, with the Texas Department of Public Safety, was notified of the in-custody death and is conducting an investigation, as required by state law for any in-custody death.

25th Anniversary Celebration  Lasting Impressions

25th Anniversary Celebration

Lasting Impressions

Lasting Impressions is celebrating their 25th Anniversary on Saturday, November 13th from 10:00am until 4:00pm.

In March 1996, Paula Jones and Jill Baty started their businesses, Lasting Impressions and JB Classics, respectively.  Their first location was with Kerri & Co., in the upstairs mezzanine.  They moved to the Payne Building the next year.  Soon after the move to the Payne building, Paula purchased JB Classics from Jill and the business became known as Lasting Impressions.

With continued growth, Paula purchased land and built her existing shop.  Lasting Impressions moved into its current location, at 112 Foster Street, in April 2002.  There was one more expansion in 2005.

For 25 years, Paula, Raegan and the staff have been apart of so many lives with bridal showers, baby showers, housewarmings and so many more special occasions.  The quality and selection of inventory has been and continues to be outstanding.  But most important is the genuine personal service everyone receives when shopping at Lasting Impressions.

Congratulations on 25 years of business in Shelby County and thank you.

WHERE WILL YOU SPEND VETERANS DAY 2021

Veterans Day, November 11, is a time for all Americans to pay their respects to those who have served our country.  One day to stand united in respect for ALL veterans, past and present.  We celebrate and honor America’s Veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Except for 2018 when we honored the 100th anniversary to the end of World War I, Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 does not hold its own program.  Instead we join with the local schools that are hosting an event to honor this day. Programs known to me are: Joaquin High School (9 a.m.), Center Elementary School (9 a.m.) and Shelbyville Third Grade (9 a.m.). There may be more that I am not aware of.

We encourage every citizen of Shelby County, especially military veterans to join us in attending one of these programs.  The students put in a lot of time and effort to make our local veterans feel special and if you’ve never attended you will be glad you did.
