Tenaha City Council, Mayor Apologize, Bailey Returns to Work Today

Following apologies by the city council and the mayor, longtime Tenaha City Secretary Doyce Bailey will be returning to work this morning.

Mayor Pro Tem Claudine Wilson Howard spoke on behalf of the council in requesting Ms. Bailey return to the position she’s held for 32 years.

Following the May 10 city election in which he was re-elected to a second term, Mayor Johnson had terminated Ms. Bailey for supposedly not receiving her support in the election. However, when the air was cleared at last night’s meeting, all parties were agreement they were ready to move forward and get past the bump in the road.

In other business, the Tenaha City Council voted to take the appropriate action to do what they can to move city hall to the municipal building after some plumbing work is done and other renovation and ADA accessible requirements are checked on.
