An overloaded power strip is to blame for a house fire late Friday night in Center. Center Fire Chief Keith Byndom says his department responded to a call just after 11 in the 300 block of Schillings Street were neighbors had already begun to extinguish the fire. Chief Byndom said fireman rolled upon the wood frame home of Debra Jordan’s with smoking coming from the structure. He said a couple of men were outside and saw the blaze near a window and took action by breaking out a window and used a water hose to extinguish the blaze. Chief Byndon said fireman used fans to ventilate the house of smoke. There were no injuries reported.
