Tenaha City Council Will Try and Meet Today

The Tenaha City Council will meet at 5:15 this afternoon. Among the agenda items for discussion and consideration will be the canvassing of the May 10 election, as well as administering the oath of offices and the election of a Mayor Pro Tem. T

he new council members will include Mayor Orinthia Johnson, and council members Michael Baker, Durand Steadman and Tom Rinkle.

The council will also revisit the moving of city hall to the municipal building and hear from department heads.

Also on the agenda is going into executive session to discuss the employment status of city secretary Doyce Bailey and the job performance of Wes Wheeler. If there's any action to be taken on items discussed in closed session, the council will act on those in open session.

As we told you Friday, the council's discussion in executive session concerning Ms. Bailey that was suppose to take place last Thursday was delayed due to the item not properly being worded on the agenda.

I spoke with Mayor Johnson over the weekend and he advised Ms. Bailey did not come back to work Friday, although he stated to us Thursday she had her job back, as far as he was concerned.
