CISD Trustees Give OK for Middle School Improvements

At the Center ISD Board meeting last Thursday night, trustees have the go-ahead for administration to proceed with physical improvements to Center Middle School, as well as repair the roof of the 7th and 8th grade building. No budget costs were made available for the repairs. In addition, Deputy Superintendent of Schools Rayford Copelin was asked to investigate the costs of improving the auditorium.

 

Center High School students, staff and programs were also recognized at the meeting. Principal Tim Norman thanked the board for their support, and welcomed the members of the board to come view the art work that’s presently being displayed throughout CHS. Students representing FFA, Floral Design, Choir, National Honor Society, BETA, Band, Twirlers, UIL, Athletics, as well as World Geography-Human Trafficking Project were in attendance. Trustees also received various gifts from students.

 

In public comment, Brad Nachman addressed the board representing the CHS Band Booster Club announcing the boosters provided 11 scholarships.

 

In personnel matters, a leave of absence was given to Rosa Barbee; and hired for employment were Laura Hightower, ELAR teacher-Center Middle School; Erinn Moseley, 4th/5th Grade Math/Science Teacher at Center Intermediate School; and Amiee Vaughn, Health Science Teacher at Center High School. Retirements were accepted for Sherri Burgay and Debbie Johnson; and the resignations of Laura Hancock, Christy Littleton, LeeAnn McGraw, Lacy Pierce, Allison Sanford and Kellie Sanford.
