Texas Comptroller Susan Combs released the April sales tax revenue for cities across the state, and in Shelby County there’s been just over a three-percent decline for the same period a year ago. The City of Center’s sales tax revenue was down two-and-a-half percent with April’s check $285,819. Center’s year-to-date payment is down 2.79 percent from a year ago, at $1.3 million. Tenaha was down 18 percent compared to April 2013, and Timpson saw an 11 percent drop. Tenaha’s April check from the state was $7-thousand, and Timpson’s almost $19-thousand. Joaquin’s April sales tax revenue was up very slightly, with the city receiving a payment of almost $30-thousand, while Huxley saw an over 10 percent increase from a year ago, and is receiving a check for just over $1-thousand.
In San Augustine, April’s sales tax revenue check is $35, 830, down almost 10-and-a-half percent from April 2013. San Augustine’s 2014 payment to date is down almost 10 percent. Broaddus’ April payment was up almost 31 percent from last year, receiving a check for $38-hundred.
