Lots to do this weekend

The Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its third annual BBQ Cookoff at Frontier RV Park and Storage. This year’s event will feature a Bike Rally, says chamber of commerce president Paul Smith. There’s a free dance Friday night with Curtis Daniels, and gates will open at 10:30 Saturday morning, as cook off teams compete for $2,600 in cash prizes and trophies. They'll have arts & crafts and plenty of food for tasting. The third annual Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce BBQ Cook off and Bike Rally, with all activities at Frontier RV Park & Storage on Hwy. 59 South. 

 

The Tenaha Beautification & Even Committee is having Trash to Treasures along the Tracks from 9 to 3 Saturday. Garage sale items will be available for selling and trading on the Tenaha Square.

 

Excelsior PTO is hosting the Excelsior Extravaganza, a huge sales event from 11 to 6 Saturday at the Excelsior school in Aiken. By the way, chicken dinners will be served from 11 to 3 for $6, with leg quarters prepared by the Shelby County Cookers. All money raised from the dinner sale will go to help the Michael & Sarah Simmons family.

 

It is going to be busy in downtown San Augustine!  This Friday and Saturday May 3 and 4  is the annual Sale on the Trail as businesses in the Main Street district will be having special events, porch sales, inside sales, trailer sales, garage sales, and sidewalk sales. It’s also the opening of the Farmers Market on the south side of the square. 

 

Nacogdoches County pastor is on the receiving end of love and support, as his congregation is having a benefit garage sale Friday and Saturday to assist him and his family as he recovers from a serious illness. Homer Murray, pastor of Holly Springs Baptist Church on Hwy. 59 between Garrison and Appleby, has suffered through two aneurysms and has mounting medical bills. A benefit garage sale is to be held Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the church, in addition, barbecue plates will be sold from 10 to 2 Saturday.

 

The 2014 River City Fest Pageant will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 3 in the Multi Purpose Room at Logansport High School.
