Timpson Area: Sheriff's Department Investigating Child's Death

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a toddler from the Timpson area.

Sheriff Willis Blackwell said his department is waiting for autopsy and toxicology results that would assist them in their investigation into the death of 14-month old Trenton Deloy Parks.

The incident reportedly occurred at the home of the child’s parents, David and LeAnn Fox Parks on County Road 4694 in the Rosehill Community.

Sheriff Blackwell said his department received a call from Nacogdoches Medical Center Hospital around three o'clock Sunday afternoon that a male child has been brought into their facility by Timpson Volunteer Ambulance from Shelby County that was deceased.

The sheriff said investigators do know the child was found by a family friend floating face up in a bathtub with both faucets on and water running. He said that individual, identified as Clayton Russell, had reportedly knocked a number of times before entering the residence.

Sheriff Blackwell advised the medical examiner has not said the cause of death is drowning, nor are they ruling out drowning at this time. Sheriff Blackwell noted that both parents were in the home at the time of the incident, and were apparently asleep.

He said a three-year old child was also in the home during this time, and was unharmed.

Funeral service for Trenton Deloy Parks will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Woodland Christian Church in Timpson.
