TxDOT has a couple of preventive maintenance program two-step seal coat projects in Shelby and San Augustine Counties this week. The process covers an existing roadway with a layer of hot asphalt followed by rock. Scheduled for work in Shelby County is FM 2261, from 3.5 miles East of SH 87 to the end of pavement; and in San Augustine County, FM 705, from SH 147 to FM 83. The process seals the roadway to keep water out thereby adding years of life and requiring less maintenace while providing a new driving surface to motorists. TxDOT reminds motorist to expect short delays in the work zones, and to drive with caution when traveling through work zones. Remember, traffic fines double when workers are present.
