Busy Weekend Coming Up

It’s going to be a busy first-weekend in May as several events are planned Saturday.

The Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its third annual BBQ Cookoff at Frontier RV Park and Storage. This year’s event will feature a Bike Rally. All activities are at Frontier RV Park & Storage on Hwy. 59 South. There’s a dance Friday night, with gates opening at 10:30 Saturday morning and teams compete for $2,600 in cash prizes and trophies. There are arts & crafts, and plenty of food for tasting. Admission is $10 for adults, children 12 and under free.

The Tenaha Beautification & Even Committee is having Trash to Treasures along the Tracks from 9 to 3 Saturday. Garage sale items will be available for selling and trading on the Tenaha Square.

Excelsior PTO is hosting the Excelsior Extravaganza, a huge sales event from 11 to 6 Saturday at the Excelsior school in Aiken. By the way, chicken dinners will be served from 11 to 3 for $6, with leg quarters prepared by the Shelby County Cookers. All money raised from the dinner sale will go to help the Michael & Sarah Simmons family.

The San Augustine County Farmers Market will start Saturday in downtown San Augustine. The market will go every Saturday thru August, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
