Center City Council Meets Today

The Center City Council meets in regular session at 5 this afternoon, and among their agenda items for discussion and possible approval will be a resolution waiver of payment in lieu of Texas PILOT for Center Housing Authority. City Manager Chad Nehring said this is needed because the housing authority is competitive with private housing options, and it’s in place to pay property taxes. The council will also discuss a resolution to adopt the revised Fair Housing Activity Statement and Anti-NIMBY-ism Action Plan; and appointment to the Center 4B Economic Development Committee, to fill the vacancy left by the death of Councilman Byndom. In addition there will be items of interest for discussion, including the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce’s Natural Gas Vehicle Forum to be held from 8:30 to 1 p.m. on May 21 at the Windham Civic Center. Prior to today’s meeting, the Center City Council will meet in a Special Workshop at 4:30 to discuss the mid-year Financial Report and Preliminary Budget.
