Nacogdoches Jury Sentences Center Man to 35 Years

A Center man was sentenced to 35-years in prison Friday in Nacogdoches County District Court. After a four-day trial, a jury found 24-year old Thomas Howell guilty on two counts of burglary of habitation, one count of violating protective order and another count of retaliation. The jury returned a non-guilty verdict for assault family violence, and a mistrial was declared on a count of sexual assault. Howell allegedly violated a protective order and assaulted his ex-girlfriend after breaking into her house before leading Nacogdoches County sheriff’s deputies and other officials on a nine-hour manhunt in the Central Heights’ area back in January 2013. He was found in a vacant house the next morning.
