UPDATE: Boil Water Notice Continues for Parts of Center

Portions of the City of Center remain under a Boil Water Notice after a 6-inch water main was repaired Sunday in the Hwy. 96 north and 87 north part of the city.

It is NOT a City-wide notice, according to City Manager Chad Nehring. He said crews were able to isolate the area pretty well, so that most of the city shouldn’t have experienced any decline in pressure or availability. He added the leak was reported around noon Sunday, and was repaired by Sunday evening.

City Utility Director John Holt said he drew a sample of water Monday morning from the area affected and it was sent to the lab for testing. He said he should have results back by late morning today, and if it checks OK, the boil water notice will be lifted.

Holt said if you had any reduced water pressure Sunday, and you live within the area of the break at the north traffic intersection, on Hwys. 96 or 87 north to the city limits, and some parts of Tenaha Street, you’ll need to continue boiling your water before consumption.
