Wet Roadway, Speed Leads to Haslam Incident

A wet road surface and speed are to blame for a one-vehicle accident just after 1 Monday afternoon that resulted in a pickup crashing into Best Donuts on the Haslam Strip in Joaquin. DPS Trooper Jimmy Faulkner says a pickup driven by 17-year old James Price of Logansport and a 15-year old passenger were westbound on Hwy. 84 when he reportedly hydroplaned, left the roadway and struck the building, causing substantial damage. Fortunately, the business was closed for business and there were no major injuries. Trooper Faulkner said Price was ticketed for unsafe speed and no driver’s license. The owner of the business said he would be closed until repairs are made.
