We received some calls here at the station yesterday in regards to a possible boil water notice for the City of Center, and after checking with city hall we found out there is no such notice for the City of Center, but there had been a major water leak of the 18-inch transmission line on Hwy. 7 west last Friday. City Manger Chad Nehring said that leak was repaired, and there’s no boil water notice in Center. He said utility crews did an excellent job of expediting the repair while maintaining system pressure and service to customers during the work. Nehring noted the line was repaired and placed back in service Saturday evening after disinfection and significant flushing. He said there may be some discoloration, but the water is safe to drink and use as normal.
