The Center ISD board of trustees will have a called meeting at noon today to review and have discussion on House Bill 5 Graduation and Endorsement Requirements.
Superintendent Dr. James Hockenberry tells us House Bill 5 is new legislation that has created many changes to the graduation requirements for students entering the 9th grade next school year. He said as of now, Center High has three graduation plans students can choose. Beginning next year, as the Center ISD implements House Bill 5, there is one graduation plan, plus the opportunity for 5 endorsements.
Dr. Hockenberry said schools are required to offer at least one endorsement. He added the school district is hoping and expect to offer all five, and as they implement these changes, some of the local policies must change to reflect the intent of the law and local expectations.
