UPDATE: Center Mail Carrier Has Tree Fall on Vehicle

A local mail carrier is lucky to be alive after a tree fell on to her vehicle yesterday afternoon. Kim Skinner of Timpson, a carrier for the Center U.S. Post Office was delivering mail around 1 o’clock when a tree fell, striking her Jeep on the driver’s side, and crushing the vehicle.

Ms. Skinner’s daughter, Rachel Edwards tells us her mother was driving and for some unknown reason, the tree fell on the vehicle, knocking Ms. Skinner out for 20 minutes. She regained consciousness, was able to call for help, and it took emergency personnel about an hour to find her.

Ms. Skinner was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial where she’s in ICU this morning with a hole in her lung, fractured ribs and glass in her head and hands. Ms. Edwards says her mother is conscious and alert.
