San Augustine Man Arrested for Burning Girlfriend's Car

A San Augustine County man was taken into custody last weekend for an incident where he set his girlfriend’s automobile on fire in January. 41-year old Billy Ray Perry of San Augustine was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with a state-jail felony charge of arson of a building, habitation, or vehicle, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to San Augustine County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham, the incident occurred on Jan. 26 when Perry and his girlfriend got into an argument, and he went outside and set her 2002 Volkswagen Beetle on fire, destroying the vehicle. Perry posted $25,000 bail and was released from Jail Sunday. He’s to appear in front of a San Augustine grand jury today.
