Local Sports Round up 3/25/14

The Center Roughrider soccer team has a bi-district playoff game at 5 this afternoon in Crockett as they take on Bryan Rudder at Crockett High School. The winner gets the Waco/Lampasas winner in the second round.

The Timpson ISD now has a girls’ athletic coordinator. Josh Jourden was hired by the school trustees at the March 18 board meeting. Jourden will also serve as girls’ head basketball coach, and is coming to Timpson from Poteet. Jourden brings a successful resume to Timpson ISD, having won a state championship last year, and numerous state, regional and district championships. Timpson ISD Superintendent Dr. Mid Johnson said Timpson is excited about bringing a coach of Coach Jourden’s caliber in the district that will work not only to build a winning girls’ basketball program, but will also work with the other girls’ coaches to improve the participation and performance of our female athletes and those programs.
