The San Augustine County Commissioners' Court will meet at 10 this morning with the only agenda item being a public meeting to open Hazard Mitigation Proposals. According to County Judge's assistant/project manager Sandy Jenkins, the Hazard Mitigation Action Plan is a requirement for certain federal grant opportunities, and can be a mechanism for economic growth, job opportunities, local investment and expanded tax base. In addition, mitigation planning is to identify and take preventative actions for disasters of all types. The action plan must be updated every 5-years.
