Local Sports Round up 3/19/14

Tuesday's baseball:

 

In District 21-1A, The Timpson Bears and Joaquin Rams improved their records to 3-2 with wins last night. The Bears defeat Tenaha, 12-8, and The Rams beat Shelbyville, 5-3. Tenaha is 0-4, and the Dragons are 2-2.

 

State-ranked Cushing beat Mount Enterprise, 15-1, to improve to 3-0. #12 Cushing tangles with top-ranked Douglass Friday in Cushing.

 

Friday’s other Dist. 21-1A games have Shelbyville at Timpson; Martinsville at Joaquin; and Tenaha at Chireno.  

 

In Dist. 23-1A last night, in a battle of two state-ranked programs, #13 Colmesneil shuts-out #10 West Sabine, 1-0. Colmesneil is 3-0, while West Sabine goes to 2-1. No score available on the San Augustine-Broaddus game.

 

The Center Roughriders had a bye last night and will be at Huntington Friday night. The Riders are 0-2 in Dist. 20-3A.

 

The Garrison Bulldogs also were off last night, and will be at Palestine Westwood Friday. Garrison is 2-1 in district.

 

Softball yesterday:

 

The Timpson Lady Bears take a 9-7 win over the Joaquin Lady Rams. Timpson improves to 3-2, while Joaquin drops their first district game, and goes to 4-1.

 

District leading Beckville is 5-0, taking a 15-0 win over Martinsville.

 

Friday’s games: Chireno at Timpson; Joaquin at Beckville; and Shelbyville at Martinsville.

 

In Class 2A action last night, Woden over Central Heights, 12-0. The Garrison Lady Bulldogs had a bye, and will be at Palestine Westwood Friday.

 

The Center Lady Riders were off last night, and will try to bounce into the win column for the first time this season in district when they play at Huntington Friday.

 

Track & Field Thursday: The Center Roughriders and Lady Riders will be at the Wakom meet; San Augustine and Tenaha head to West Sabine; and Timpson and Garrison are at Cushing.
