Shelby County Commissioners Hear Bridge Report

At their meeting yesterday, Shelby County Commissioners were presented bridge inspection reports by TxDOT representative Nancy Smith, who listed four bridges in the county in need of replacement. According to an article on Shelby County Today.com, these included three on County Road 4323, and the Mill Creek Bridge on County Road 1006, which are scheduled for replacement in 2015. A bridge on County Road 1510, not on the list, was mentioned by County Judge Rick Campbell and Commissioner Pct. 1 Roscoe McSwain, as needing immediate attention. Ms. Smith said if the bridge is in dire need of repair, to go ahead to do repairs and credit would be put on another project. County Judge Rick Campbell noted during the meeting, that’s it’s a known fact many county road bridges in Shelby County are regularly handling excessive loads of 80 to 100-thousand pounds from agricultural related traffic, which is putting stress on the structures.
