Kidnapping Suspect Had Lived in Center

A Center man has been arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated kidnapping of a 15-year old Nacogdoches girl.

Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges says 28-year old Juan Fabian Arenas Delacruz has been taken into custody after a three-day search came to an end Wednesday when the girl was found safe in a Lubbock motel room by police officers.

Sheriff Bridges said Delacruz was found working at a job site on the Texas Tech campus. He was reported to be an illegal alien who may be a former police officer in Mexico, according to the sheriff. It’s reported Delacruz had befriended Nomei “Mimi” Velazquez’s family in Nacogdoches in December, and had a falling out with them.

Delacruz reportedly worked for a Louisiana oil company and had been living in Center.

The search for the pair covered Texas, Kansas and Missouri, as reports surface they were seen in those areas.

An Amber Alert was also issued for the girl.

During the search, Velazuez’s boyfriend, 20-year old Franklin Antonio Joya was arrested for possession of child pornography after Nacogdoches County sheriff’s investigators reportedly found images of her on his cell phone.
