At their called meeting yesterday, the Center ISD Board of Trustees authorized administration to solicit proposals for lease of facilities and real property for the purpose of relocating the transportation yard and operation center. The bus barn—which it’s more commonly referred, has outgrown the location, just off Timpson Hwy., and there’s a need for more space, according to Superintendent Dr. James Hockenberry. He said there’s no certainty the facility is moving until they go through the process of looking for an alternate location. He added the district’s transportation infrastructure needs upgrading as well, and said moving the facility would provide a safer environment in and around that area. Also at Wednesday’s meeting, trustees renewed the Southwest Foods Service Excellence contract; approved a leave of absence for elementary school teacher Jessica Dillard; and approved the employment of Sydney Jones as a Center High School teacher.
