Friday is the last day to file for a ballot position in the May 10 city and school board elections. Not all entities still observe the May election schedule, as some now wait until November.

The City of Center and City of San Augustine, along with the Center ISD, San Augustine ISD, Broaddus ISD, and Excelsior ISDs now wait till later in the year. However, there are possible city and school trustee contested elections.

The cities of Timpson, Tenaha, Joaquin, and Huxley have either mayor or council positions expiring; and Timpson, Tenaha, Joaquin and Shelbyville school districts have board positions up for election.
