There will be a special road dedication next month during the Shelby County Ducks Unlimited Greenwing Event at the North Toledo Bend Wildlife Management Area. At 9:30 a.m., March 1, the road leading into the area, south of Joaquin, off FM 2572, will be renamed and dedicated to Shelby County Ducks Unlimited friend, the late Jacob Hughes. According to a press release from Shelby County DU, Hughes believed in conservation, was a devoted sportsman, and a true steward to the outdoors. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Jacob Hughes was completing his degree at Texas A&M University when his life was cut short after an automobile accident in Sept. of 2011.
