Stabbing Suspect Still Sought; Incident Not On CISD Property

As we’ve reported this week, a fight during a non school related soccer game did lead to a stabbing Sunday afternoon in Center. The location of the incident was near Roughrider Stadium, but was not on school property, nor involved Center school students.

In a press release received yesterday, Center Police have confirmed they responded to a fight, and upon arrival discovered that Ciro Sandoval of Center had been stabbed during the altercation. After receiving emergency treatment, Sandoval was later life-flighted to University Health Center in Shreveport.

The suspect in the incident, Mauricio Figueroa Alvarez of Center fled the scene, and is still at large, and wanted by Center Police. Crime Stoppers is asking for your help in locating Alvarez. If you have any information that could lead to the arrest of Mauricio Figureroa Alvarez, you’re asked to contact Center Crime Stoppers at 598-SAFE, or send a web tip at centercrimestoppers.com.

You could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000 in your information leads to his arrest, and remember you don’t have to give your name. By the way, Sandoval’s condition is unknown.

Center ISD Superintendent Dr. James Hockenberry told Center Broadcasting Tuesday the district has concerns about the incident, and its close proximity to the school. He added safety is a priority, and the district must take into consideration the activities around the Center schools.
