After the DETCOG offices, his home and church were raided by Federal Agents this week, DETCOG Director Walter Diggles, says he wasn’t surprised to be made “a target” because of the “high-profile” nature of his job.
In today’s Lufkin Daily News, Diggles said the process that DETCOG went through with the federal agencies was a little unsettling, but he added, “in my business you always look for things that may happen unexpectedly.”
Diggles was in Austin on business when agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations criminal investigations division, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations arrived at multiple locations in Jasper on Wednesday.
The investigation apparently centers around the faith-based organizations Diggles works with that DETCOG funnels funds into. Diggles said he would be surprised for agents to find any wrongdoing.
An FBI-Dallas spokeswoman said Thursday no new information on the raid or investigation was available. She added there are a number of things that could happen from here.
