The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches weekly rankings are out and the Tenaha Tigers are No. 8 in the Class 1A, Div. 1 Poll, while the San Augustine Wolves have dropped to No. 15 after a loss to West Sabine on Jan. 21. West Sabine, meanwhile, is No. 14.
In the girls’ rankings, The Chireno Lady Owls are No. 10 in Class 1A, Div. II, and Cushing’s No. 22 in 1A, Div. I. The Central Heights girls are 31-0 and remain No. 4 in the Class 2A poll.
Tonight’s Dist. 20-3A boys’ schedule has the Center Roughriders traveling to Jasper. The Riders are tied with Central and Diboll for the district lead at 7-2. Diboll goes to Carthage and Hudson at Central.
In District 21-1A, Div. I, Timpson travels to district leading Tenaha, who’s 7-0. The Tigers can clinch a share of the district championship with a win. Martinsville is 4-3 and heads to 5-2 Shelbyville, and Joaquin goes to Gary.
Meanwhile, in District 22-1A, Div. 1, San Augustine goes to Pineywoods Academy, West Sabine at Broaddus and Zavalla at Brookeland. The Wolves are 6-1, a game back of 7-0 West Sabine.
All girls’ teams will be playing their last regular games of the season tonight.
Joaquin Junior, Chloe Brown, and Center High Senior Garrett Stanley, recently competed in a powerlifting meet in Huntington. They both won first place in their weight classes. In addition, Brown and Stanley also won the "Lifter of the Meet" award for the girls and boys respectively.
Wednesday is National Signing Day for student-athletes across the country. Here at home, there are a number of high school seniors that will be looking to “ink” to further their academic and athletic careers.

Timpson: Offensive Guard/Defensive Tackle Dimric Caraway
