Boys’ basketball last night, District 20-3A, Center had the night off, but Central has picked up a half-game lead in the standings with a 77-52 win over Carthage. No score on the Jasper-Hudson game, but a Jasper win would have them also a half-game up on the Riders, tied with Central at 7-2. The Riders are 6-2 and will host Huntington Friday night. Diboll beat Huntington last night, 66-52, and are tied with Center at 6-2. The top 4 teams in the district advance to the playoffs, and there’s four games remaining.

 

The Diboll girls wrapped up the District 20-3A championship last night beating Huntington.

 

In District 22-1A, Div. 1, the Tenaha Tigers remain undefeated, with a 102-43 win over Joaquin. Tenaha is 6-0, while the Rams drop to 1-5. The Shelbyville Dragons squeaked by Gary, 44-43, to improve to 4-2 in district, tied with Martinsville, as the Pirates defeat Timpson, 48-37. Gary is 3-3, and Timpson falls to 1-5.

 

Friday night’s schedule has Tenaha at Martinsville, Gary at Timpson and Shelbyville at Joaquin.

 

As for District 23-1A, Div. 1, the San Augustine Wolves improve to 5-1, with a 74-42 win over Zavalla last night. S.A. entered the night, a half-game back of West Sabine, who played Brookeland, no score available. Elsewhere, Broaddus over Pineywoods, 94-46, as Broaddus improves to 4-2.

 

Friday night, Brookeland’s at San Augustine, Broaddus at Zavalla and Pineywoods at West Sabine.

 

District 19-2A boys last night: Central Heights 60, Westwood 45 and Crockett 68, Garrison 57

 

Hoping for warmer weather, the Center Roughrider Varsity Tennis matches against the Nacogdoches Dragons that was scheduled for yesterday have been rescheduled to start at 4 p.m. Thursday at Center High School.
