A Panola County man’s body was found by emergency rescuers Monday afternoon in a private pond after he was reported missing.

The Panola County Sheriff’s Office says, 83-year old Rudolph Vance had been fishing in his private pond, and when he didn’t return, his wife called 911 to report he didn’t show up back home as expected. Vance’s pickup was found at the pond site by his wife and his boat floating unoccupied.

The incident occurred in a five-acre pond along County Road 121 south of Carthage, off FM 10. Panola County sheriff’s deputies, Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens, DPS troopers, a constable and Gary Fire Department and EMS responded to assist.

Rudolph Vance’s body was sent to the Southwest Forensic Crime Lab in Dallas for an autopsy.
