In high school basketball action last night, the Center Roughriders notched a District 20-3A win at home, taking out Hudson, 68-54, to move Center to 6-1 in the district. Meanwhile, Jasper keeps pace with the Riders, beating Carthage, 80-71. Elsewhere, Central defeats Huntington, 61-40. Central’s just a game back of the leaders at 5-2, while idle Diboll is 4-2. The loss to Center puts Hudson at 2-5, Huntington’s 1-6 and Carthage is 0-7.
The Center Lady Riders didn’t fare as well, coming up short to Hudson, 55-23.
Friday night, Center goes to Diboll, Jasper at Central and Huntington at Hudson.
In District 22-1A, Div. 1, the Tenaha Tigers have taken over sole possession of first, after an 81-56 win over Gary. Martinsville over Joaquin, 41-33, and Shelbyville eases by Timpson, 67-64. Tenaha is now 4-0, with Gary dropping into a two-way tie with Shelbyville at 3-1, Martinsville is 2-2, and Timpson and Joaquin are 0-4.
The Shelbyville Lady Dragons keep rolling, as they take a 72-22 win over Timpson. Shelbyville is 6-0, alone on top of the district. Martinsville is 5-1, with a win over Joaquin.
Friday night’s district schedule has Shelbyville at Tenaha, Gary at Martinsville and Timpson at Joaquin.
Shoot-out in San Augustine last night in District 23-1A, Div. 1, as two state-ranked teams met. It was West Sabine coming away with a 56-53 win over the Wolves. The loss drops San Augustine to 3-1, tied with Broaddus for second. West Sabine goes to 4-0. Broaddus beats Brookeland, 50-48, and Zavalla over Pineywoods Academy, 65-51.

Friday’s games will see Broaddus at San Augustine, Brookeland at Pineywoods and Zavalla at West Sabine.
In District 19-2A boys’ results, Crockett is 6-0 with a 52-48 win over Central Heights, and Garrison picks up its first district win, 51-50 over Elkhart.
