The Capital Murder Trial of Shakeitha Cartwright enters its second week today in Center, as testimony resumes in Judge Charles Mitchell’s 273^rd District Court. After the state rested its case last Friday, defense attorney Rudy Valesquez will be calling witnesses today. Last Friday, defense witnesses Marlon Cartwright, the father of Shakeith Cartwright, along with the Ellis Hoyt, father of the victim, Keilly Hoyt, took the stand. The five-month old died from abusive injuries received last year, as her mother stands charged with her killing. If she’s found guilty by the jury, Shakeith Cartwright will spend life in prison.
