The San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet gala last Thursday night at the Historic Museum Theatre.

Among the awards presented included: Brookshire Brothers receiving business of the year; Devon Energy, industry of the year; City of San Augustine Mayor Leroy Hughes, the friend of the chamber award; San Augustine County Judge Samye Johnson, the community service award; and Royce Ann Wiggins won the president's award.

In addition, Pastor Bill Lanigan was recognized with the Service to Youth Award; Faith in the Community Award went to Donnie & Vickey McElhasey; Volunteer of the Year Award went to Linda Goller; Ambassador of the Year to Terry Sympson, and Outstanding Citizen to Betty Oglesbee.

The new chamber offices were also sworn in for 2014, as Norman Neel assumes the role as president.
