Big District 20-3A road win for the basketball Center Roughriders Friday night as they come away with a 43-39 win at Central. The win puts Center in a two-way tie for first place with Jasper at 5-1, entering Tuesday night’s start of the second go-round of district. In other district games Friday, it was, Huntington beating Carthage, 63-56, and Diboll over Hudson, 67-55. Jasper was idle. Central and Diboll are 4-2, Hudson, 2-4, Huntington, 1-5, and Carthage, 0-6.

 

Tomorrow night, Hudson comes to Center, Carthage goes to Jasper and Central at Huntington.

 

The Lady Riders lost in their bid for a third-straight district win, 51-25 to Central.

 

In District 22-1A, Div. 1, boys’ results, the Tenaha Tigers take an 81-26 win over the Timpson Bears; Gary upends the Joaquin Rams, 62-40, and Shelbyville and Martinsville go into overtime, with the Dragons coming away with a 56-53 win. Tenaha and Gary are sitting atop the district standings at 3-0, Shelbyville, 2-1, Martinsville, 1-2, with Timpson and Joaquin at 0-3.

 

District 22-1A, Div. 1, girls’, the Shelbyville Lady Dragons have taken over sole possession of first place with a 36-33 win over Martinsville, in the final game of the first round of district. Shelbyville is 5-0, while Martinsville is 4-1. The Joaquin Lady Rams beat the Gary girls, to finish the first round of district at 3-2.

 

The district schedule Tuesday has Tenaha at Gary, Joaquin at Martinsville and Shelbyville at Timpson.

 

The San Augustine Wolves remain in a tie for the District 23-1A, Div. 1 lead, as they take an 84-36 win over Pineywoods Academy. S.A. improves to 3-0, knotted with West Sabine, who takes a 46-43 win against Broaddus. The Bulldogs drop to 2-1. Brookeland beats Zavalla, 65-53. Brookeland is 1-2, and Zavalla is tied with Pineywoods at 0-3.

 

Tuesday’s games see West Sabine at San Augustine, Brookeland at Broaddus and Pineywoods at Zavalla.

 

A District 25-1A, Div. II result, No. 1 Oakwood over the Chireno Owls, 96-83. Chireno boys are 2-4 in district.

 

In District 19-2A, Garrison and Central Heights’ boys both had byes, as Garrison is 0-5 in district, with Central Heights, 4-1, a game back of Crockett. First place, and undefeated Crockett defeats Elkhart, 75-38, and Palestine Westwood over Woden, 57-50.

 

The Garrison girls played Groveton, taking a 55-22 win. The Lady Bulldogs are 5-3 in district.
 

Tuesday’s schedule has Garrison at Elkhart, and Crockett at Central Heights.

 

Soccer Tuesday night, the Center Roughriders are home to play the Crockett JV; and the Lady Riders go to Jasper.
