The final game of the first round of the District 20-3A boys' basketball schedule is tonight, and the Center Roughriders find themselves at 4-1, a half-game back of first-place Jasper. Center is tied with Central for second place, and the two square-off tonight in Pollock. Jasper has an open date, and Diboll will be at Hudson.

 

The Lady Riders go for win number 3 in-a-row in district as they play the Central girls tonight.

 

In District 22-1A, Div. 1, Tenaha goes to Timpson, Gary at Joaquin and Shelbyville at Martinsville, in both boys’ and girl’s action.

 

In the boy’s standings, Tenaha and Gary are both 2-0, with Martinsville and Shelbyville at 1-1. Timpson and Joaquin are 0-2.

 

Big game for the outright lead in girls’ District 22-1A, Div. 1 race, as the Shelbyville Lady Dragons clash with the Martinsville Lady Pirates to wind up the first go-round of the district race. Both teams will bring in 4-0 records.

 

The District 23-1A, Div. 1 schedule has Pineywoods at San Augustine, Broaddus at West Sabine and Brookeland at Zavalla.

 

S.A., West Sabine and Broaddus are all 2-0 in the boys’ standings.

 

 

Soccer action: The Center Roughriders are playing in the Palestine Tournament today through Saturday; while the Lady Riders will host Chapel Hill at 6 tonight at Roughrider Stadium.
