The Shelby County GO TEXAN Committee returned from last week's Go Texan event in Houston with the prestigious Participation Award, presented annually to the best county out of 68 Go Texan counties statewide, based on total participation in contests, qualified scholarships, events and how they ranked in each event.

The trophy's on display at Shelby Savings Bank's lobby in Center. The trophy remains in the county for the year, and will travel with the winner until it’s awarded to another county next January.
