Logansport Man Charged: Intentional Exposure to AIDS

We told you last week of the arrest of two Logansport area men charged with sexual assault of family members well one of those individuals has been charged with intentional exposure of the AIDS virus. 40-year old Cartrell Brooks is in custody charged with aggravated incest, and during the investigation, told DeSoto Sheriff's detectives he has AIDS.

 

A test was performed on Brooks, and it came back positive that he has AIDS. Chief Deputy Horace Womack said Brooks, a habitual criminal, has been arrested over 50 times since 1990. He also said Brooks is not the first person to be charged with intentional exposure to AIDS, but the crime's not common.

 

The news that Brooks had aid has frightened the Logansport area, and a prayer vigil is planned for 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19 at St. Luke Baptist Church in Logansport. The church is not involved in the event.
