The all-district football selections have been release for District 20-3A, and named as co-newcomer of the year is Center’s Octavius Evans. In addition, Riders selected to the post-season honor are:

First team: Josh Burns at wide receiver; and senior punter, Luis Garcia. Garcia was also named second-team kicker.

Making second team offense are: Quarterback, Caiden Rainbolt; and Offensive Lineman, Lemarcus Goodwin.

Second team defensive selections: Linemen, Esteban Garza and Zach Verhalen; Inside Lineback, Garret Standley and Kiounis Williams; and Defensive Back, Jermarcuss Jones.

Academic All-District from Center - Joshua Burns, Caiden Rainbolt, Dalton Horton, Luis F. Garcia, JeMarcuss Jones, Jack Ford, Kiounis Williams, Jordan Long, Garrett Stanley, and Adam Reeves.

Honorable Mention from Center - CJ Garner, Adam Reeves, DaCorey McGee, Pedro Mendoza, Jacorey Bolton, Sayoddrick Barnes, Dalton Horton

 

A full slate of boys’ and girls’ district basketball games on tap tonight for local teams.

 

The Riders and Lady Riders are home to play Carthage; Central goes to Diboll and Jasper goes to Huntington. The Riders are 3-1 in the Dist. 20-3A race, a half-game back of Jasper, while Central is on top at 4-0.

 

In boys’ District 22-1A, Div. I, Martinsville goes to Tenaha; Joaquin at Shelbyville; and Timpson at Gary. Tenaha, Gary and Martinsville are off to 1-0 starts.

As for girls, the Joaquin Lady Rams are 2-1, and tangle with district co-leader Shelbyville. The Lady Dragons are tied with Martinsville at 3-0.

Tonight’s District 23-1A, Div. I schedule has San Augustine at Brookeland; Zavalla at Broaddus; and West Sabine at Pineywoods Academy. San Augustine, Broaddus and West Sabine are 1-0.

 

District 19-2A, Elkhart at Central Heights, and Woden takes on Garrison in tonight’s games. In the district race, Crockett remains undefeated at 4-0; and Central Heights is 3-1; while Westwood and Elkhart are 2-2; Woden 1-2; and Garrison is 0-4.

 

Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Poll this week, the Chireno Lady Owls are ranked No. 11 in Class A, Div. II; and in Class 2A, Central Heights’ girls’ No. 4. As for boys: San Augustine Wolves are No. 9 in Class A, Div. I, followed by the Tenaha Tigers at No. 10. West Sabine is No. 20.
