The Center Roughriders pulled up even for the district lead with Central in the District 20-3A boys’ basketball race, with a 42-32 win on the road in Huntington last night. Central had the night off. The Riders take a 3-0 district mark into Friday night’s home game against the Jasper Bulldogs, who are just a half-game back of the leaders. Elsewhere in the district last night, Hudson beats Carthage, 64-60, and Jasper gets past Diboll, 67-63.

 

In non-district boys’ games, the San Augustine Wolves beat the Joaquin Rams, 108-37; Broaddus over Lovelady, 90-44; Brookeland beats Martinsville, 48-45; and Nacogdoches defeats Pine Tree, 74-45.

 

The girls’ scoreboard has the No. 4 state-ranked Central Heights Lady Devils improving to 25-0 on the season with a 64-44 win over rival Woden in a District 19-2A shootout. The boys’ game saw Central Heights take a 50-35 win over Woden. Garrison teams had the night off.

 

In Distric22-1A, Division I Girls action, it was Martinsville over Gary, 55-30. Martinsville is 2-0 in district.

 

The Joaquin Lady Rams and Timpson Lady Bears had to reschedule their District 22-1A, Div. I game last night, when refs didn’t show for the contest. They’re gonna try to play again at 4 this afternoon in Timpson.

 

Shelby County Youth Basketball League will have two final sign up days! This Thursday the 9th from 6pm - 7pm at the Center Middle School Gymnasium, and Friday the 10th from 6pm - 7pm at the Center High School Gymnasium. Fee is $35! The league is open to boys & girls in 1st - 6th grade.
