Forbes release 2013 Center WX stats

With 20-13 in the books, longtime official U.S. weather observers Jim and Ann Forbes have compiled weather stats for the previous 12 months.

 

The highest temp in December 2013 was 79 degrees on Dec. 3; the lowest was 26 on Dec. 11 and 24. As for temperature records, the highest December temperature occurred on Dec. 6, 1956 when the mercury reached 84 degrees. The lowest December temp was 2 degrees on Christmas Eve 1989.

Rainfall for the month of December 2013 was 3.62 inches, which was 1.81 inches below average. The highest recorded rainfall amount for December was a 14.28 gully washer in 2002. The lowest recorded for this month was 0.87 in 1980.

 

Total rainfall in 2013 was 50.92 inches, below average for the year by 3.28 inches.

 

Other weather facts for 2013 according to the Forbes:

 

The last freeze for the season was 30 degrees on March 28; August had 16 triple digit days; September contained 6 triple digit days; the first frost of the season was Nov. 3; and first freeze was Nov. 13. There was light snow late in the evening of Dec. 6; and the Timpson area had earthquake tremors reported in January and September of the past year.
