East Texas Poultry Festival Doo Dah Parade Chairman, Carolyn Lamb, announces Center Tire Company as the 2013 Parade Sponsor. The parade will circle the Historic Downtown Square, led by the Shelby County Junior Chamber of Commerce, at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25. Pre-registration for this popular event is not required. Participants are to line up at the Farmers State Bank Drive-Thru at 4:00 p.m.
To launch the action-packed day you are invited to enjoy the annual kick-off Chicken Fajita Luncheon. Orders are now being accepted. Forms are available on the Shelby County Chamber’s festival page at www.shelbycountychamber.com or by calling 598-3682 or emailing email@example.com by Friday, September 21. The meal includes two fajitas, chips, salsa and a drink for $7 per plate and delivery is available for 5 or more advance orders.
Chicken Cooking Contest recipes are to be submitted by Wednesday, September 18 according to Chairman Denise Merriman. The contest, sponsored by Tyson Foods, will follow the Doo Dah Parade on the downtown Center Square at 5:00 p.m. Trophies and cash prizes will be given to the top cooks by categories, including People’s Choice and the Best Dressed Table. To enter the contest, recipes may be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. If preferred, they may be mailed to or dropped off at the Chamber offices, 100 Courthouse Square, A-101, Center, Texas 75935 by the deadline. The public is invited to come out at 5:00 p.m. on the east side of the Square and try all the dishes for a $5 charge.
Rooster Revel 2013 will also be held Wednesday, September 25 on the Historic Downtown Square and will feature exclusive Rooster Revel 2013 metal art silhouette designs created and hand painted by the Center High School Agribusiness and Marketing students and art students. The limited edition artistic creations will be on display the week prior to the auction for public viewing at various business locations. The Photography Show will be October 3-5 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Vision Source, the office of Dr. Charles Collard, at 106 Nacogdoches Street. The Quilt Show will be held October 3-5 in the Historic Courthouse from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Quilts may not have been previously entered in any East Texas Poultry Festival Quilt Show.
