The identities of those involved in the fatal accident in Shelbyville on Tuesday have been revealed and the details of the incident released.

The preliminary investigation by the Department of Public Safety indicates that at approximately 6:50am, a semi tractor-trailer carrying timber was traveling north on SH 87, while an SUV was traveling behind it. The SUV, for an unknown reason, struck the rear of the truck.

The driver of the truck is identified as 57-year-old Steven Bennefield of San Augustine. He was not injured.

The SUV driver has been identified as 32-year-old Mianna Adair of Joaquin. She was taken to Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler for treatment. Her passenger, 7-year-old Chesney Grace Adair sufferred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Marla Denby.
